Ok I'm a senior, But my math skill is seriously lacking, I'm doing fine otherwise, and I'm going hardcore crash course on math to catch up (And advance a little I hope) I'm homeschooled so I don't have access to a guidance counselor or anyone else to advise me on how/when to apply for college, I plan on taking my Sat/ACT this spring (for the first time) and I want to go to college next fall, I don't see a problem with this as both test results are said to come back within 6 weeks, but then again, I really don't know anything at all, also, like said, I'm homeschooled, I don't have any real extracurricular activities, Is there anything other than volunteer work at the local soup kitchen or something that I could do to bump up my extracurricular activity list a bit? any other advice is greatly appreciated as well, don't assume I know anything, because I honestly really don't.

If you are not trying to get into a specific school than as long as you get around a 500 on each part of the SAT (I don't know the scoring for ACT) you should be ok, many state schools have rolling admission and community colleges are easy to get into if you don't get into a state school and if you do well your first semester at community college you can transfer to a better school if you want. You don't really need much for extracurriculars to get into a state school or a community college they take almost everyone, it is not really competitive. If you are worried about it you can volunteer almost anywhere, it does not have to be at a soup kitchen. I am not sure what your interests are but if you like kids you could do a big sister program or if you like animals, volunteer to work with a vet. Or if you have time to get a part time job you could work a subway ten hours a week or so to have something to put on your resumee. College deadlines vary a lot so when to apply depends totally on the school. Some schools you apply a year ahead of time, others you can apply a few months before school starts and be fine. Check out the website of any school you are interested in and they should have deadlines. If there is anyway you could take the SAT or ACT this winter that would be better because if you know your scores then you will have a better idea of what kind of school you will be able to get into and you will know where to apply. Hope this helps!
