I didn't even know in which interest I should start this discussion. We've been living in this house for a long time and I do know that our wiring is/was fine. However just a few minutes ago I was in the kitchen. I cleaned up the fridge a bit, and then went to the sink to wash a few dishes in there. When I turned on the water and put my hands in it, I got an electrical shock. I tried it again just because I didn't really believe it and I got it again. I can touch the faucets fine, with no shock, and I can touch anything in the kitchen too, but not the water. Anyone ever experienced something like this? Or have any idea of what can be? It was fine last night when I did the dishes. Just what I needed... spend money on fixing this...it's probably expensive too Grrrrr :) ANyways, really need to hear from someone that has encountered this or has any idea of what it can be. Have a wonderful sunday

Wow, that IS really bizzare. I would think that if touching the water gave you a shock, so would touching the faucet and spout. I would get this looked in to today if you can. Electrical glitches are nothing to fool with and can be a symptom of a much larger and more dangerous problem.

Yeah, and I to make things more complicated the electrician we usually have coming over does not work on sundays. Have to get someone coming over...grrr As for the faucets thing, it really is bizarre, because I can touch them, no problem at all. Just the water gave me a shock.

is your faucet and knobs plastic by any chance? This may explain why you don't get shocked touching them, it doesn't conduct electricity very well. Also, I would advise against trying to take a shower, lol, could end quite badly.

Yeah , it seems that something is not grounded, but it was fine last night. I hate when these things happen. I'm already imagining the huge bill this will carry LOL

Hi dear! It sounds really bad that you got the electrical shock through water, which you never expected. It appears to me that there is something wrong in the wiring and it appears to be leaking somewhere. I think, it will be in the fitness of things, if you call a electrician (which you would have done by now) to know the actual reason or leakage. Please remember our life and we are important than 'money', therefore, do not be afraid to spend the money on re-wiring/necessary repairs. Hope everything will be alright soon. All the best.

Hmm... this is something new to me too! If it is only the water, could it be due to static? Check your water pips to see if any exposed wiring is touching them. Hmm... I just noticed that the discussion was posted a month ago. Has the problem been resolved?

Its probably a wire that's letting out electricity into the water. You may just have to move or patch up that piece of wire. I don't think its going to mean re-wiring the whole house. Get an electrician but do it quickly before it gets worse and really gives somebody the eternal shakes.

Growing up we had a sink that if you touched the metal rim you got a shock. We never fixed it, never had any thing serious come from it. I do not know what to say since the faucet is not the source of the shock but the water itself. That is kind of weird.

Sorry dear but I've never had this experience before - am hoping someone has an answer for you. All I can think is an electric charge is contacting the water source but that could be well, water heater (is it just one or the other hot or cold or both), do you have city water? Might be a problem there - would wonder if neighbors are having the same problem. Well, lots of questions but sorry no answer.
