Would you geta tattoo of your boyfriend/girlfriend's name?
I think it's one of the dumbest, impulsive ideas ever. What happenes if/when you break up? You're stuck with the thing forever.
The only name tattoos I would ever consider gettig would be of family members or kids if I [adopt] any.

I think name tattoos are the stupidest, most pompous things ever. What happens if you don't like that person anymore? Get it lasered off? I don't think so. Those people should be stuck with that thing forever- and have to deal with a the crap it brings them. :o

I would never get a bf name tatooed on me, if you later break up your stuck with this thing! I have one tattoo which my husband bought for me on Valentines day its a heart with a celtic background and barbed wire round it. Even though he bought it for me its not got his name on it so it would be fine if we did split up (not likely).

i think this is a good point. i see people everywhere with their partners names tattoed all over them. there if no forsight by these people. i know that the idea of true love is out there, not that i've had a chance to experience it myself but i dont know that i could tattoo even my true loves name on my chest because i just dont know what is going to happen.
surely there are other ways of showing your affection for a person rather than inking your skin with their initials. a ring perhaps? or you could get a tatto that represents them without actually using their name. ive seen a couple that instead of having wedding rings, had bands tattooed around their ring fingers. they were pretty cute.
i guess there are ways around it if you do have an issue with the person whos name you've got tattooed on you though. for instance, there are some forms of removal although im sure i wouldn' like to go through with them. and ive seen a couple of pretty good cover up jobs. but it depends on what it is and i still think prevention is the best cure.
as for tattooing family members names etc i dont think o would even consider that. the whole name thing is a little clique. i would rather get a tatto to represent the person. i have a friend who lost his girlfriend in a bus crush. they'd been together for a couple of years an he was devestated so he got a tatto on this chest - just a simple outline of a couple dancing with a date underneath it. it was his way of remembering her.
my brother and i want to get matching tattoos but we know that names arent the way so we designed our own. a ying yang, each side representing one of us. i'm the white side which contains a storm, while his side has a gecko in it.
i think people should take a long think before they permenantly mark there skin. i dont have a problem with tattoos but i know that hindsight is a precious thing.

i am married for seven years now and we have a three year old son.... still i wont get a tattoo. for me its making your self dirty, just my opinion. i would never consider having a tattoo. what is funny my wife is the one who wants to get a tattoo, or wants to have a tattoo. she even like to have one years before we met. but that is up to her, if she wants one then ok, but me i wont.

i would rather not have a bf's name tattooed in my body.it will be a bit difficult if we decided to part ways.I would rather have something tattooed on me that I will not get sick of.I would very much like to have a tattoo of the the yin and yang symbol and the symbol of Libra,my star sign.that I will not get sick of.

I would'nt get my man's name on any part of my body. I don't think you need to prove anything. If you and your man know who you want to be with then why do you need to see his name on your body? Be confident in who you are. You don't need to be defined by your woman or man's name on your body.

No names! I am only getting symbols. My first will be my avatar. If it weren't for music, I wouldn't be here.I want it on my left inside wrist. My second is going to be a black rose. I love black roses. I want it on my inside right wrist. My third is a name but it is sarah in Hebrew. I just don'y know where I want just now but there is time to decide.

that would be a big fat NO for getting a b.f name on me. it was one thing i'd already knew when i decided to get my tat last yr and wasn't quite sure what to get. might get my son name one day but not in a hurry for names.
i've got other ideas for my tatts.

Been there... But we were married. I have "Hurley" blasted across the top of my back, and I just got his name on my neck covered over with a big Celtic tribal piece. He was an a$$hole. He abandoned me in the hospital when I had my right leg amputated. I mean, who does that? Anyway, the Hurley will become clouds and mist background to my succubus.
