Here is a photo of an Apple Pie I just finsihed baking. It is made with some of the apples I grew in my yard as always. It sure looks delicious. I'll know in a couple hours after dinner when it's cooled down a lot how it tastes. I sm proud of this venture. So far anyhow. The crust tastes great at least that I know of. What was the last homemade thing you baked that you were proud of?

Ok, just ate a pizza I baked a few minutes ago but was one of those $1.25 frozen jobs... Believe it or not the last homemade thing I baked was an apple pie last fall :( obviously I don't bake alot these days... wonder how much gas would cost me to drive to your house and help you with that apple pie :) I can almost smell it through the computer :)

This year I am making a lot of homemade bread from a recipe I altered and I have been so happy with the bread. It starts with cottage cheese and I put various herbs in it. Your pie sounds yum, though. I do not bake as much as I used to.

Thanks.
I have been a short order cook as well as a line cook. Did that tyupe of work for a few years and made some great changes to a couple menus with my spur of the moment changes in recipes of the foods at the restaraunts. The biggest was to one's buttermilk pancakes. I added nutmeg to the batter and the customers loved the new and improved pancakes the owner came up with. I had to tell them it was me not the powner that did the change.

Oh tough question. Anything I cook or bake I think is a flop no matter what anyone else says about it. I already dread Thanksgiving coming up because of all the cooking I will have to do. LOL I sure am hoping my daughter invites us to her house this year. Of course I will help her but she will do the main part...ok now to stop dreaming. haha
I am sure your apple pie will be delicious. Do you have any vanilla ice cream to go along with it? I bet it smells really good in your house.

I just about make everything home-made... But I do remember the very first time I made an apple pie - it was FANTASTIC! It's never tasted as good since then.

I made a zucchini slice about a week ago...so yum. I love home made apple pie, my Mum was so good at this. I haven't had a home made one for years. I usually like to make apple crumble. Have you tried that Bob? Did you put cloves in the apple while it was cooking?

I must say your pie looks great.
The last thing I baked was an okra casserole. I was needing to do something different with the okra a co-worker has been giving me, besides frying it. I love fried okra but try not to fry alot of foods. I did a search on kraftfoods.com and found the okra casserole recipe. It turned out really well. Last night my hubby made okra gumbo which was delicious.

That looks wonderful!!
The last time I baked an apple pie, a dear friend of mine was teaching me how to make crust from scratch. We got the apples peeled, etc. and I made the crust according to her directions. We had just finished the top with a beautiful lattice crust and she was carrying it to the oven when my youngest son--who was 7 at the time--came barreling through the kitchen to run through the back door and slammed smack into her and the pie went flying!
Well, my friend and I had a good laugh and the dog helped clean up the mess! That's the last pie I baked from scratch, although I've cheated since then and made a couple with ready-made crusts.

oh grandpa bob that would have been last summer while I was enjoying the shingles, not, but anyway I did bake a lemon meringue pie and it was so good, I had not done that in years and I even
shared some with my son. He had doubts about me eating it as it was not a sugar free endeavor but I convinced him my pills would handle it and it really was delicious too. wow you are becoming quite a cook there but then some of the most famous cooks are all men. he he he. happy mylotting hatley here

Wow, your homemade apple pie looks delicious! The last time I baked a homemade apple pie was during Christmas last year. I think I'll make one tomorrow now that I see yours. lol. The last thing I baked homemade was a flan a couple of weeks ago. Its a spanish custard type of dessert. Its very tasty. My mom made one for me tonight too. We love to cook!

That looks really yummy. It makes me want one now. lol I usually bake a lot at Christmas time. The last thing I made was cookies and they were really good. I let my son help me. They were chocolate chip cookies and they were so good especially right when they came out of the oven and were real warm.

Congrats on your accomplishment grandpa bob. The last thing I successfully cooked was some orange cake. The next thing I am planning to cook is a jucy lucy, seems a bit tricky to me as an european. Not sure if you're american but you look like it, so maybe you have a tip about it to give away to me? Would appreciate it.

you are full of surprises grampabob. I really thought that as into gardening and all that you are that you would be an expert at things like apple pie. I will say that for it being your first pie....it looks delicious!!! i am ashamed to say that I haven't actually baked anything homemade in quite some time. It is just me and my daughter here now and baked goods would probably go to waste. I do fix some pretty good dinners for us. During the holidays we all get into baking and it is pretty fun with all of us gathering in the kitchen and working around each other. What a mess we make but I love it. You have inspired me. Tomorrow nite my daughters boyfriend is coming to visit and stay for dinner. Maybe I'll go domestic on them and make a pie or apple crisp for dessert.

I don't do very much baking but I have actually made an apple pie believe it or not. Of course that was quite a few years ago. I think the last thing I cooked in the oven was a casserole I threw together from ingredients I had in my pantry. It wasn't from a recipe, I just threw a bunch of stuff in a dish and baked it and it turned out pretty good too. Not as good as that pie of yours though I bet! [;-)

Oh how sweet! I wish I was there with you because I go gaga over freshly baked Apple Pie. There is one at McDonald's every morning, but it's not as good. Your Apple Pie looks beautiful and definitely yummy. If only you can send a slice in the mail for me, but I guess that's not possible. So all I can do is dream on and imagine the taste, but thanks for sharing.
