I also like local tropical fruits. I love durians most. I also love to eat watermelons for its water content.Mangoes, mangosteens, pineapples, bananas, papayas, rambutans, jackfruits are also the local fruits I like. Beside local fruits I also take imported fruits like oranges, apples. kiwifruits, prunes, pears, strawberries and other berries. Fruits are good for us as they contain all the essential vitamins, minerals, phytoproteins, anti-oxidants,etc. So for good health, eat more fruits.

I am durian lover too. I love frozen durians there are so awesome! Now I find that frozen durians isn't that hot compare to the non frozen one. I will get sore throat every time I eat fresh durians. But now I discover the frozen durians are so cooling and I don't get any more sore throat problem .

Hi James, I also like to eat durians and now is durian season at my place. I can see alot of people selling durians at the roadside, but I am yet to buy some to try. Do you believe that eating mangosteen can help to get rid off the heatiness from durian fruits? I only get to know about this tips recently and I am yet to try it out. normally , I will drink lot of salt water after eating durian fruits.

shia, Durian is called the King of fruits and mangosteen is labelled as Queen of fruits. Durians are heaty whereas mangosteens are cooling. So as such if you eat durians it is good practice to follow by eating mangosteens to neutralize the heatiness of durians. We may also drink salt water out of the durian husk, as advised by my mum. vingyan, You eat frozen durians? You are a Malaysian and I never heard of Malaysian eaten frozen durians. How to eat frozen durian? It is so hard. Or do you mean putting durians in the fridge not the freezer compartment? That I believe it also tastes good, with a cooling sensation plus the soft texture of the flesh.

I had some rambutan yesterday. My eldest sister plucked some from her house as she has a huge rambutan tree in her house front compound! I love certain bananas. My favourite fruits are watermelon. Does watermelon considered as tropical fruit? Just wonder? I think it is not...LOL Pineapple is great for 'fruit rojak'! Yummy...

Hi Iriene, I also have my rambutans few days back,it is freshly pluck from the trees,I got the free one from my husband's uncle since he has many rambutan trees at his land. I don't think watermelon is a tropical fruit. I also like to eat rambutan especially the black beauty type. Sometimes, I will buy 1 big watermelon, then cut into half and share with my husband. We can simply finish up half watermelon within half an hour while watching TV. It is a kinda of dessert for us,I guess. Pineapple is the best fruit for rojak. I do made my homemade rojak few months back when my house has plenty of pineapple, I do add cucumber, fried tofu and jicama. Add some grounded peanut and serve it cold.that is the best dessert after dinner time.

I like all the fruit in the Rojak, except pineapple. I do not know why I don't like pineapple at all. Rojak is a very nice tropical fruit salad. I like those seller put in guava in the Rojak. There is one seller selling Rojal in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur, his Rojal is the best because he adds in lime juice and Chili Padi and " kang kung' vege in his Rojak. Rambutan is my all time favorite tropical fruit. When I was young and stayed in a village, I envy those neighbors planted rambutans tree in their garden. I like to pluck the rambutans when they were not around.

Shia.. count our blessing that we lived in the countries that have the tropical fruits available.. I love tropical fruits except pineapple. During the durian seasons, we had lots and lots of durian. As one of my uncle has a durian orchard, when come to the peak season, he will invite us to his orchard to enjoy a feast. Recently another friend of mine even tried on the 9kg durian!! Beside, jackfruits also my next favourite. If I see those stalls that sell fried jackfruit, I surely stop and buy... and for mango, I love to use it for my homemade yogurt, and it's just so perfect.

I also don't know what is the during that is 9kg, but saw it in a friend's blog. They went on some durian feast, and took photo of it. As for pineapple, I don't take it raw.. I don't mind it canned, or even in pineapple tarts, but never never raw! I don't like the after taste that stick on my tougue eating. I will prefer it to be cook, and will surely enjoy that better. You know when come to the assam laksa dish, I will have lots and lots of pineapple, coz it will be cook by the hot soup. Weird taste isn't it? Also, I was being told not to eat too much of pineapple, and it will coz the stomach uncomfortable during our 'monthly' visit, therefore, I rather not have it, and later suffer..

HI Cwong, I just like to eat raw pineapple especially when it is added to rujak paste or just add bit of dark soya sauce,it taste yummy. I can eat about 2-3 pieces at one go,But not in the morning time. It is not good to eat pineapple in the morning as it will make our stomach feel uncomfortable. As what I know, when we have our monthly visit, don't ever eat pineapple or else, it will create heavy flow and we will be suffering alot. So I always avoid eating pineapple during my monthly visit. Oh...assam laksa with plenty of pineapple, I lvoe the taste and it really makes me feel hungry now. I have not been eating assam laksa for more than a year.I just feel lazy to cook myself,it is very time consuming in preparing all the ingredients.

I love eating pineapple cookies..I can simply finish up one big can of pineapple cookies in a day. I also like to eat pineapple with rojak paste...taste great and perfect dessert after dinner.

Hi Shia, Yes, I too like to eat fruits. From your list, Mangoes, jackfruit, banana, papaya, pineapple and leechy are available in our place. I don’t like pineapple much but it gives some itching in mouth after eating (some varieties, not all). Mangoes and Jackfruits are available in abundance at our native place so no need to purchase the same. We can get the fresh and sweet one without giving any price.

Tropical fruits - Atis and Guyabano
I love tropical fruits also.I'd buy kilos of tropical fruits and store them for a week consumption. I think I can't live without fruits. My favorites are mangoes, papaya, pineapple, bananas, atis or sweet apple and soursop (guyabano). I am actually eating my guyabano and atis now with my husband. The atis is so sweet while the soursop is a combination of sour and sweet taste. I am so enjoying these fruits while watching TV.

Hi, Lychee is a rare subtropical fruit originating in South China.whereby Lychee is very important in their culture and served as "king of fruits". Lychee is oval and rounded heart shape and the bumpy skin is red in colour. The juicy flesh of lychee fruit is white or pinkish, translucent, glossy like the consistency of grape, but the taste is even sweeter. It is good to eat lychee fruit as it is high in Vitamin C and essential mineral pottasium. Hope my little explanation can give you a rough picture of what is Lychee fruit about.

Philippine mangoes are the best! I like green ones that are sweet. Also our bananas, papayas and guavas. When I say guava, I miss the small ones that are pink inside. I can only find guapples, those big guavas that are white inside and are not so sweet. My mom also likes chesa and chicos.

I am not so fancy about guava fruit,as I heard that eating too much guava will have a hard stool. So I still stick to apple and pear for my daily fruits,In between, I also eat other fruits.

I call it as DUKU at my country(indonesia). I am not sure where you can find it at your place or not. The shape are exactly same like lanzones.
