I figured this semester I'd start making myself flashcards but even doing that it seems like I'm still only managing a B-average and right now I need A's in order to keep my double major up.
So mylotters... whats the best way for you to study?
And just a side note - I can't study with nothing going on. If I'm in a quiet room I can't concentrate because I get bored and then I start skimming and making excuses, so I need something small going on to keep my attention.
Thanks

Someone else has already mentioned rewriting your notes and learning styles but lets look at both of them a little bit deeper. Everyone does have their best learning style but that doesn't mean that you are stuck using just one. Use all of them! When you rewrite your notes, don't just rewrite them, organize them...make charts or lists or whatever you can do to work with the information. Flashcards are a good idea. Reading out loud helps the information enter your brain in a different way. If you need to memorize a list of something, use the first letter of each one and create a silly sentence out of them or organize the letter into a word if that's possible. If you find a quiet room distracting then play soft music and give yourself permission to take breaks. Good luck!

It's been a long time since I was in school, but I always found that one of the most effective ways for me to study was to take the notes in class. Then that evening I would rewrite all of my notes in a more organized manner while I was watching television. After the notes were rewritten I would review them for a while each night until it was time for the tests.
Also, when it came to textbook material, I would also take written notes of the important points that I came across.
I always managed to get As to low Bs.

The place where you should study should be in a comfortable and peaceful room. Study in a table and a chair away from your bed and any destructions like tv, computer, play stations etc. If you can't study in a so quiet environment try turning on a radio just for a background music, not too loud, to help you relax.
Give yourself a break if you need one, a couple of minutes will do but return to your work after your done or else you'll be destructed and change your mood. If you're not in the mood to study, don't study, it will be just a waste of time and energy.
Time management is also important, make a schedule to study at least an hour or two for each subject and then take breaks so that you'll not get bored reading or studying and you also need to rest your eyes once and a while. And last tip... Never ever study in your bed because you'll just fall asleep. It always happens to me LOL. Hope these helps... Happy MyLotting and studying!

The best way to study is to try to relax and read the material over and over again for a period of days or weeks.
Never try to cram it all in. That never works.
Just keep familiarising yourself with the material and it will stick.
Most of it, anyway.

I don't have any experience. But I can tell you some tips to remember all. At first, you have to comfortable before you study any subject. Second, you read book before you go to class and note some special things you think these are the content of lesson. Third, you should read more books talk about the lessons you will study. If you study foreign language, you should take new words into a paper and learn by heart from every lesson. I think it's helpful for you to study. Good luck to you.

You must be in college. Do away with the flashcards. That is only for grade school. The notes in your notebook must suffice. When listening to a lecture in class, be sure to jot down key points that will make you remember the lessons. Scan your notes each night and try to recall the formulas, the theses, the rebuttals, and all the necessary solutions to problems. When reviewing, munch on a chocolate bar. That is only if you are not diabetic. Attend all your classes. Be punctual. Be ready even for lab work. Academic discipline calls for 100% focus. Do away with the going ons. It can be done. You need a sterling transcript to land on a good job. Begin now.

If you want to improve your grades you should learn more about your learning style. Everyone has a different learning style once you figure out which one is your style and as you learn about it you will see an improvement on everything. I learn about learning style when I first started college I had to take this class call Personal Dimensions where I would learn what type of learning style I am and after learning more about it I have a 4.0 GPA so far in college.

Studying is a matter of determination. If you really wanted to learn then any ways of studying can do. Just put a certain determination that you can really learn from it. If you ask for ways on how to study effectively then you don't know if it's really effective to you. Just don't force yourself first, take it easy.

It seems like you may be a university student because you said that you have a second major,if I were you,I would like to study in the libray. Can you agree with me?In my view, the libery is the best place to study for everybody.Although the libray make you feel very quiet, but it is different from your quiet room, for the atmosphere of the libray can make you concentrate and keep your attention.

Concentration is more important to do any task. Since you are telling that you are not able to concentrate on studies, when you are alone, you can try combine studies. That means consult your friends who are good at their subjects and form as a small group of 3 or 4 members. Now discuss the subjects inwhich you are weak and take the help of them. Note down all points in a notebook and just go through it once again before you go to bed. Similarly you can help your other members by telling them the subjects inwhich you are very strong. Teaching the subjects to others is a kind of rivision for you. It improves your memory power and thus you can get more grip on your subjects. So try this way and see.

now i know that you have two problem to work out:
1.a way to improve your levels
2.what you should most just now
in fact level A or B does not matter. the reason why you can not concentrate is that you have to spend a lot of time to get A ,but that level may not what you really want in the future . you want a way that helps you get an A at the least cost of time . so it is better to drop A , and focus on your most-want aim.
