Why music can brings back our memories?

When I am listening some old songs,my past life will rush into my memory.And the past life is in the same period of that old song!
What about you? What do you think?

Sometimes perhaps mybe,most of these memories is not really some good mermories but some bitter memories,so I would rather not to listen to that so called old beautiful songs.
For most of the times I like to listen to all kinds of different from different songs just for the rhythms rather than the words it has expressed ...
