Well here on MyLot, since a past few days, it has come to my notice, that, there is always one of those small easy topics in the top discussions page. Topics that are small on content and don't ask you to utilize you intellect much. People tend to flog to such topics and fill 'em up with responses, upto 3 pages in one day. I mean, personally, every time I start an easy topic, like what color you like, or something like that, I generally get atleast 20 responses, but whenever I start a serious topic, something on which I really need help, I barely get 4 replies.
Its quite funny and disheartening at the same time. I feel there are a lot of people here who have just joined in to earn and don't care much about quality responses or discussions. They don't care about listening to other people's problems or worries, or whatever it is. They don't come here to try and interact, but just to earn, in any way possible.
Well I think I might have hurt someone already with all that ranting, so I think I should stop. But I would really like to ask the Lotters, what are you here for? and what do you make of such topics and behaviors?

As a new user, I must admit that the initial draw to this site was the potential to earn. I do see your point about the split between those here for the serious interaction and those simply here to make some extra money. In my opinion, it this range of individual choice and expression that makes this venue inviting to all. Now that I have experienced a bit more of the discussion aspect of this forum, I will definitely take more time to evaluate all aspects of MyLot in an effort to improve my experience and enhance the experience of others.

I come to myLot for fun with my friends.
My idea of fun is not answering poll type questions which will be deleted once admin is aware of them but neither to I enjoy debates on very heated dicussions which occur in certain interests.
Having ruled out those two categories I still find many, many discussion every day which interet me and I never have enough time to leave my mark on as many as I would like to.
If I spot a user who is continually posting those poll type so-called discussions then sooner or later I stop off and advice them that they will not get as many benefits from myLot as they could if they did something with more substance. If they take heed fine and if not tha's fine just the same, sad but fine by me as at least I advised them. If those users are here just to make payout it will take them ages doing it their own way.
If your discussions are receiving less responses don't give up because at least they are not getting deleted like those others that you mention and over time you will receive more responses I'm sure if you stick it out.

Hi there Raphael Volts!
I think it's because people tend to respond to discussions wherein they can give their input, share their related experience and add more information to them. Maybe there are just some "deep" discussions wherein they don't have much to share and I guess it would be better not to respond if you don't have anything of substance to share about the discussion, right?
If they are about controversial issues, maybe it's also because some mylotters try to avoid getting into arguments as much as possible. I remember when I responded to such a controversial discussion about abortion wherein I shared my opinion and lots of comments were posted against mine. After that, I avoided similar discussions.

Well am not talking about deep or controversial issues but I am just talking about discussions based on two lines getting 30 to 40 responses. Any ways, it is what it is and I don't think every one comes here for fun. But ya everyone does come for money. There choice, how they make it.

Hi raphael, those topics tend to be put up by those who've spotted how popular they always are, without realising they are a daily event which will be deleted the next day. They are here for the cash, haven't read the guidelines and don't realise that many responses does not equate to cash, but that interactive discussions do. Don't bother your head by the number of responses they draw, the posters don't comment back anyway because lets face it how can you respond with orginality to the reponse 'my favourite colour is red.'. Why do people respond? Because it's easy, they don't realise it will be delted in a day or two, they just look at the rather meaningless post count.

To be honest, 90% of the reason why I'm here is to earn extra monies. But, at the same time, I would prefer actual intelligent conversations. If I were answering questions like, "What's your favourite colour?" all day, I might loose my mind.

Ya that's what my point is... we all come here to earn, but what's the point in responding to discussions that are meaningless, which will definitely get deleted in a few days.

hello raphael,
I agree with you that such topics are more interested now than the previous once. i remember last year, I've seen the serious topics and less jokes or fun topics. all sort of topics are being responded due to most people prefer the fun side of the posting and not the negative site of it.

Something to bear in mind is that a discussion that draws 50 responses will not earn you any more than a discussion which draws no responses. We earn by our own work, not by the work of others in the thread. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You got the point, hatley! Well, just keep on giving quality posts to earn. If a discussion is active where users interact about the subject, it can help users to earn more, especially to the discussion starter. Yes, it is about sharing information, helping others and to discuss something. The reason why easy discussions get lots of responses simply because it is easy to answer and users can express well what they know about a certain subject. Interesting discussions get more responses especially when it is active.

I like easy discussions too, but it seems it is very hard to come up with a decent discussion, one that others are willing to respond to. That is mainly whay I rspond more than start discussions, as it is much easier, and I don't have to think as much about what I am going to say when I am a posting a response. I have never had any discussions that had 0 responses, but most of them didn't have all that many either. One discussion had 37 responses, and another one had 20. The rest of them had 10 or less. I am just gald for the ones that did respond, as I know they might not have been as interesting as they could have, but it is better than nothing, as they all gave me a chance to comment back. I do always comment back to the responses I recieve, as I feel it is my duty to do so, as I feel the too time to respoond, so I am going to comment back. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Hi raphael_volts,
I rarely started a new discussions and since last month I didn't even started one. I only started a discussion when I need help or something about football (soccer). I usually prey that no one response again to my discussion (need help) once I found the answer (and I already give best response). And I never expected to see many responses for my football discussions because most of my friends doesn't like football.
I think I never response to the discussion about the color. There is no point for me to response to it because I can't see how I can earn from there even if the discussion doesn't deleted.
I also doesn't response to a hatred discussions because I don't like to argue with someone that I didn't know. Some of the members here can't accept other people view on some topics and tent to give a - rate. I face too in my football discussions. But since I love that sport, I don't mind.
I love to answer to a discussions that I can contribute something to it. Some light argument and no one feel bad about it would be accepted because I do it sometimes with my friends here.
I didn't response to someone problem because I don't have anything to say. Even more if that required a technical knowledge or experiences. I don't like to pretend I know something that I didn't.

I think people just pick the topics they can best relate to. I do really notice that the short simple discussions do tend to get more responses than the long drawn out ones. I don't really know why that is the case. I just put my input into discussions that I find interesting and can answer easily.

Well as i see it the easy road is typical human nature. I have to admit i first joined because i seen it was a way to help fund some of the cost of sending care packages to my son when he was deployed by the military. Postage and shipping things over seas adds up fast, just something thats not in my budget. After being here a couple weeks i really like the interaction with other people from all walks of life. I tend to have a very open mind and enjoy hearing other peoples views. So at this point for me personally I dont set a goal every day to how many topicals i start or comment on just to the ones that interest me. At the same time making a few dollars to help with my situation with my military son.

I have started on all the facets of discussions here. Those discussions that doesn't demand much thinking generates more responses over those mind boggling topics. It is human nature to go for easy subjects so they need not waste their brain juices coming up with deep thoughts on certain heavyweight discussions. I refuse to comment further on this as I am one of those that often go for easy topics. I do response to serious topics like politics and religion but even these topics doesn't guarantee their staying power. When it becomes hotly debated discussions and ends up controversial, the admin will delete the discussion to avoid it turning ugly.
I am here because I like it here.

Good day, raphael! Well, there are some factors why a discussion gets more responses. Situational topics are those that has a big chance of getting lots of responses. It is because such topics are practical so users can easily give their input about it because it can be applicable to daily life. That was a strategy shared by a friend here and it was proven to be effective. But discussions such as 'What color do you like?' or something related to it, according to guidelines, it was nothing of substance and it is subject for deletion. So make sure that the topic has quality even it is easy to answer before posting it. There are also reasons why a discussion gets only a few or no responses. Maybe the topic was too hard to answer or users are not familiar with it or it did not caught their attention. Anyway, try to comment on responses you received on your discussion with few responses. It can attract more users because there are some users prefer only to respond on active discussions. Have a nice day!

You must consider the target audience of your discussion. Majority of the members here are common people, meaning simple people with spare time to earn and learn something. If your discussion requires a lot of thinking and attention then the probability of your discussion to be responded is near to zero because mylotters tend to respond to discussions where they can easily relate and come up with a suitable answer quickly for instant cash.
@boogerman (1544)

Well said! The objective of getting many responses will be achieved when the audience is considered. If a topic was practical or applicable to daily life, it will likely get more responses because many users are familiar with the subject so they can be easily cope up with it. Users are here to share information, to help or interact with others, and also to earn. About those topics that require some logic, it can still get responses especially when all the details are clarified well.

Hi Raphael. I am here for a little of both reasons. I enjoy joining in on the discussions that interest me and I like to earn for my two cents worth. I am sure others have responded to you already about not letting the small topics such as "what is your favorite color" get to you. Some people here just don't realize I guess that Mylot is looking for quality content and discussions that have the potential to interest others to join in and voice opinions. It would be difficult to give a quality response on a topic like favorite color so I don't usually look at those ones. And I agree that those discussions probably get deleted. Plus, keep in mind that you earn here for what YOU contribute so as long as someone contributes quality discussions or responses, I think you will earn just as much if not more for those 4 responses to your serious topics.

Well, that term was used by some of my friends here as a strategy to earn more here in discussions. I don't know the exact meaning but from their explanation, it is about exchanging of ideas or commenting on responses received and comment again if they reply. A nice and fun way to interact and to earn by simply discussing a certain topic. About my avatar, it was designed to make people laugh. I also got several comments about my funny avatar and is nice to know that I made them laugh even for a short time.

Hello there! Posting quality content can help to earn. Short posts do not get paid and there is no exact amount per post in here because it depends on quality. Yes, discussions that are nothing of substance are subject to deletion. We earn from our own activity but the point of the discussion starter is about getting more responses aside from those easy topics. If a user got lots of responses and commented on them, he/she earn more. Barging is a strategy and also a fun way to earn more in discussions.
