Well, I live in India, near New Delhi. I have to travel everyday, nearly 20km to go to work and my classes. I hate traveling by bus or by local trains. I don't love to drive either, as there's always so much rush and a lot of traffic, which makes it quite irritating to wait on those red lights. I hate the jams. So I decided to go by metro. I love taking the Metro train. Its quit comfortable and fun. Even if you have to stand all you journey, its not much pain, as it hardly takes me 30 minutes by metro, which always took me an hour and a half by my car. With all the air conditioning and smooth rides, its quite easy to get to work and back.
Also there i can just sit and enjoy music from my phone, with my headphones on or I can even read my favorite book, without any disturbance. To bad it doesn't yet run 24/7 or else i would be traveling all the time.
So what mode of transport do you prefer? Why?

HI Friend,
I also live in Delhi and I know how one feels when it takes 1 hour to reach a distance of just 5 kms. Yes I also love Metro Train system and use it whenever I have to travel near to any metro area. Hope it will cover delhi as a whole and make us feel more confortable.

I prefer whatever has the easiest bathroom access. On the trains here, there's always a bathroom at the end of the car, where as if you're stuck in a traffic jam, you may be stuck there for a while.
On the other hand, there is no bathroom on the bus, and if it's not busy on the roads, you can drive to any nearby coffee shop, etc, with a bathroom that you can use.

I too hate driving during traffic hours. As much as I wanted to take other forms of transportation, I really cannot since I carry a lot of things. Most especially when I am conducting training programs which is part of my work. I have several equipments with me. In such cases, I really need to bring along my car. Well, I always try to go out early to avoid the traffic. This way, I get to drive smoothly and enjoy the flow without getting tangled up in a traffic mess.

you are lucky enough to have an metro at your city but i live in bangalore and still here the metro construction is not completed yet so we have to face nightmare going through the streets, we can never be at time to our destination, i just hate city's for their traffic sometime i feel like shifiting to a town for just some peace. and yes after you reach to work you feel frustrated already, just due to all those traffic and pollution that gets created due to vehicles.

Hi raphael, I have no choice but to use the car as there is no public transport system really at all in this area, but that's fine as I like to drive and we don't have traffic jams. Back in the UK though it made no sense at all to sit on a packed moving nowhere motorway in a traffic jam, to get into the city to work, and then spend a fortune parking it, whilst their was a perfectly inadequate train service to use. I found that if I left an hour earlier than I needed to though I could be at work on a train that mostly left on time, avoid the rush, and work in total peace for the first hour.

Well go for you, but here the oil prices are high as it is, so I would take travel by train over the ride by car any time!

I always drive everywhere I need to go, but recently I've gotten so frustrated with it I think I may start taking the bus. I go to school as a hospital approximately 6 and a half miles from my house in the city. By the time I get out of the city and home through rush hour traffic, it takes me anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half to drive such a short distance. It's completely frustrating to waste that time in my afternoon, when I already have an over-crowded schedule

Well in that case, you might end up getting stuck in traffic, even if you take a bus, cause that also follows the normal route. Any ways I hope you get better alternatives.

Well;I have also travelled by metro. It is a good means of transport-fast,efficient,timely(which many buses are not) and hassle free-unlike driving one's own car ;or taking Autos or crowded buses.
The new fleet of low floor AC and Non-AC buses is also good .Still;their number needs to be increased to help
people in and around NCR .
I like Metro;yet have to use private cars to reach many places;especially to places away from Delhi metro routes.
Regards
