I got my wisdom tooth pulled out on thursday. Mind you I had to wait in total pain for the dentist to get there an hour late. then I had to wait while he saw two people who's appointments were after mine!! once he got around to me, it took him 45 mintes to finally get the damn tooth out of my mouth!! my like a dummy went back to work instead of going home to rest. So now 5 days later, I am still in so much pain! they only gave me 8 pain pills, i guess so i don't sell them on the street for pockets of cash!! LOL I am thinking of calling them today to have the dentist to take a look and make sure all is well. Have you gotten a wisdom tooth pulled before? How long did it take for you to get back to your regular talking to much self?

Hi 34momma, I personally have never had mine pulled but I knew a girl I went to school with who had hers taken out in almost the exact same setting as yours. Her dentist was 2 hours late getting to his office and took 5 other patients who showed up after her before he actually realized thst she was there ( and the nurses told him like 8 times) but anyway she hd hers taken out, was given a week and half's worth of pills and sent home. However a week into it, the pain pills were not helping and her mouth continued to bleed a little. So she went abck to the dentist who pulled them out and was told that they are a little swollen and she should becareful brushing. Anyway she saw her mom that night who is an RN and she took her to the emergency room. Turns out the dentist had done severe damge to her gums getting the tooth out and did not sterilze well causing infection to set in. She was in the hospital for two weeks because of the infection. So I would definetly go back, and find out whats going on, but if your not satisfied with the dentist that you saw go and get a second opinion. It could be well worth it.

Definately have it checked to make sure infection has not set in. Everyone has a different pain tolerance to different things. Do not mess with your mouth it is the biggest place for bacteria and infection can go deep into the bones if you ignore it. Hope all goes well take care!

You poor thing! I recently had two done at once, and I came out of the dentists thinking I was fine - luckily I wasn't working that day, but I did walk to work to get my paycheck, and felt fine for a while on the medication they gave me, must've been some strong stuff! So feeling ok, I thought, I'll walk up to Walgreens and make sure I have some painkillers in in case....but by the time I got home from getting my check, I was in so much pain. Once the meds had worn off I felt like my face had been hit by a bus, and I ended up phoning a friend who kindly went and picked up the pills for me. I relate to your pain...lol...I have had arthritis since the age of ten, and it had nothing on this! And yes, I think it did last a few days - and I went home whereas you went back to work, so maybe it hit you a bit longer. If you are worried get them to take a look though. I hope you feel better by the time you read this!

wisdom tooth is really painful because it is a big tooth. better take analgesics like ponstan or mefenamic acid this will help.

I haven't had any out yet, but I might well need to within the next year or two. As for the answer to your question, I think some people just have a higher pain tolerence than others. My husband had most of his teeth removed, dentures installed, and he was back to work that day with no pain. Teeth never bothered him, but he knows he's the exception, and not everyone is like that.

It's gonna hurt and he should have given you some Lortab and Amoxycillin for it; Both of them will take care of the pain and what ails you. But just them little eight pills(although that's what they give me too)that can't be all; You should have went home cause you will be out of sorts. Plus why would he overlook you in your pain for two others who came AFTER you? something aint' right here.

Sounds like you have a dry socket! You need to get back to your dentist as soon as possible so he/she can pack it. I've had so many dry sockets and now I don't have any teeth on the bottom and few on the top. Dry sockets are extremely painful!! One cost me a little over $600. because I went to the ER and my insurance company didn't pay for it.

I had all four taken out when I was 22. It isn't pleasant and it does take time to get over. If it's causing you a lot of pain, you need to tell the dentist. Did he send you home with any after care instructions? Don't put your tongue on it! You don't want to risk a dry pocket. From what I understand those are mega painful. My son is getting his out in November. I'm making him take a few days off from work. He's got three that need to come out.

That's awful...it should not hurt for that long. Definately go back to have it checked, you may have a dry socket. I had mine out years ago and had to have it done by a dental surgeon because both of them were imbedded in bone. But was off the pain pills within 2 days. something is wrong. So sorry to hear about your pain. I hope everything will be fine for you very soon.

First of all you should stay home after serious dental work. I used to think I could work right after dentals and somebody put me straight once a long time ago. When I removed my wisdom teeth many years ago I had to have it done surgically and that was over an hour in operation and about two weeks of medication afterwards. I actually sat awake while the detist took a chisel and hammered one of the teeth loose. Its was impacted against another tooth. Then I watched him pull thread with a needle in and out of my mouth while he sewed up my gums. What a scene ! Honey, you should have gone home for a couple days.

I have no wisdom on this issue, but as per my observation if its related to upper lever, it surely reflect effect on your brain. So it would surely take some time to recover. Better you meed dentist once to check with your status to get additional pills to get cure as soon as possible.

I had my wisdom tooth extracted long ago. My dentist suggested to have it removed since it was misaligned. They injected to make my gums numbed. In a few minutes they were able to extract it with no pain at all.

It should not still hurt. I would say that they need to see you again. I hope there is not something wrong, but it could be setting up with infection or something.

Hey momma! This doesn't sound right! I have had wisdom teeth pulled and never had a problem. I have also had 5 teeth pulled at once, including one that I spent a week in the hospital for that became really badly infected and still didn't have as much pain after they pulled it as I did before they pulled it! You may have a "dry socket". You should call the dentist and go back to him! You should have felt better in a day or two the most! I have never had a problem, especially with wisdom teeth. Sometimes they can be difficult to pull, but 5 days is too long to be in that much pain! Get it checked!

Hello 34momma, No, I haven't got my wisdom tooth pulled out. So I don't really know how it feels. But upon reading you discussion I can just feel the pain. it's been two weeks now, so hopefully you are doing good now. take care
