Confused about H1N1 - Swine Flu Vaccine - What R U doing?

I was asked today by another couple with a small child if I was going to vaccinate my kids against Swine Flu (H1N1). I automatically said, "NO". I think the media has hyped it. I have other friends (2 sets now) that had kids that got it. Yes it was bad, but not worse than regular flu....
I've seen the stats in children and 37 of the kids that died (the majority) had pre-existing conditions that contributed to their death.
This couple said to me,"We heard that the school districts are making it maditory." What?!
I'm just not convinced it's been tested long enough.
So what are you going to do as a parent? Will you get all the shots - a possible total of FOUR depending on the age of your child...
Would you get the polio vaccine as soon as it came out because the media told you it was safe?
Do you trust the MEDIA with the health of your babies?? The husband works security and will be working overtime covering clinics distributing the vaccination... because there might be RIOTS over NOT getting it.... does anyone else think this is weird?
I just wonder what other real parents are thinking about this. Thanks for participating in this discussion.

No way I'm getting one. Or my kids. There are to many side effects to this shot and they are also using a live virus to make it. There is a lot bigger chance of contracting the illness this way. They used to make the regular flu shot from a live virus and some people would actually get very ill. I think the H1N1 is very dangerous but I also think the vaccine may be dangerous too.

Well..that us a wonderful question. What can we do about mandates? I'm not sure how I would handle it and there aren't a lot of options for most parents. I would consider homescholling as much as I dislike the thought of it. Not that I wouldn't be able to do it but that it would take them away from their peers. Maybe if there is enough parents standing together, we could petition it or even just stop it. Maybe we could claim religion and get out of it..

Your right..we are the ones doing that. We are also the ones that take care of them if they get sick. We take care them and pay the doctor bills. Not the schools. I was thinking about this and it would probably be safer to catch the H1N1 and have the natural resisitance versus the vaccine anyway. I sure don't want any of mine or myself to get it but I don't want the vaccine either.

It does make a parent feel lost, doesn't it? I mean, I thought WE were the ones that brought the food for Parent Teacher conferences, and WE were the ones ordering and selling the school T-Shirts, burritos, bull horns, and WE were the ones doing the read-a-thons and ordering magazines and wrapping the teacher's Christmas presents with the wrapping WE donated???? Why don't WE get a say in how 'safe' our kids are?
I bet petition might work in smaller schools. However, I wonder if just writing a letter to excuse attendance until flu season was over would work! When does it end?? April? I'd home school too.

I'm not going to take the vaccine to be honest.
I think it's overhyped, and the swine flu vaccine in 1976 screwed up a lot of peoples lives. Watch a couple videos.
Dont let me be bias though, ill just show you my opinion. After that, look up some others ones k? :D
Personally i would advise against it though.
go to dailymotion.com and look up swine flu vaccine propaganda 1976 and you should get the video. Hope I can help! :)

Remember Influenza "B"...??... remember how THAT was going to kill us?
Thank you soooOOOO much for writing this. I am pretty sure it is HYPED. The media has to hype up SOMEthing!
I will go check out those videos. I had no idea that they already did this in '76! Seems liek if it was a good vaccine, they'd still have it around, no?
You Rock for responding so quickly!
Swine Flu prevention: Don't pick your nose, or anyone else's, and wash your hands!! also, NO kissing pigs! LOL!

i am not confused at all about this vaccine. i am flat out not getting it and neither is anyone else in my family. i think alot of it is hype also and we are practicing good hygiene and boosting our immune systems with vitamins and such. it has not been tested long enough and i will take my chance with not getting it.

This swin flu is a big joke. My girlfriends stepdad had it (lives in another room) and no one of us got it. Also when he visited the doctor, doc said that he got natural antidote in his body by getting this Swin Flu so there was nothing to worry about. HAHHHAA x)

THERE YOU HAVE IT!! :O) I just had a feeling...
I heard a couple of guys talking tonight (I missed the beginning so I don't know the Author's background whether Dr. or Nutritionist or what.. but) and they were selling this book for $40 to help people combat the effects of the Swine Flu VACCINE!!! Yeah!
And the Author was saying that he had never in all his years seen a MANDATE for a vaccine.
Good grief... what are we coming to???

Vaccines are a touchy subject with me just because back in the mid 90's i had to perfectly normal toddlers and within a week of getting a series of vaccines they were full blown autism. Im not even going to get into that debate its all over the internet and i only know what i live every day with my children. I just dont think in reguards to this swine vaccine that its had enough time to be tested throughly do they really know what the effect are going to be from it? Is the government going to compensate all the people that have bad effects from it if its found 6 months from now to have been dangerous? I seriously dont think they would, more likely to cover up why everyone got sick or try to blame it on something else. On the other hand what is a parent suposed to do, like if i decide not to vaccinate my children and one of them ends up being one that doesnt ever recover it would tear me apart. Very hard choices for parents to make. Can you trust everything the media says or government says NO. For our family there will be NO flu vaccines because of the risk of the mercury in it, again not saying thats totally to blame but im not willing to take the chance ever again. Very good discussion enjoyed reading how everyone thinks about this topic.

Wow. Peace upon you Beautiful Mother!
I am SO thankful that you wrote in. I have heard many stories about vaccine lawsuits and so forth and it is good to know that this is a real issue effecting real people who love real babies.
As a mother, I know that we blame ourselves for about 98% of what our kids do or don't do, and things that happen to them that we can't really help. It is very hard to see into the future and make the right choice everytime and to be able to protect them from all the bad in the world. Reality is, we just can't. That's where we find a deeper strength to find faith in. Mine won't be in media or government mandates.
I am thankful for polio vaccines and those that have been around for decades. The new ones... make me nervous.
I truly TRULY appreciate your input here in this discussion.
Thank you.

I have three children. I personally was confused over the H1N1 vaccine. I decided that I am getting my children the regular flu vaccine but not the H1N1 vaccine. New medicines and vaccines scare me. Who knows for sure if this vaccine is truly necessary and what side effects or problems it may create years down the road.

Good for you.
I've heard that there is going to be a shortage of the regular flu vaccine.... well, isn't that convenient?? ...hmmm.. pondering...
Silliness. I'm sure there is enough, they just want to get a bunch of guinea pigs together and test something on us, calling it H1N1. Biological testing.... I am not a lab rat. Neither are my kids or YOURS! :*)

The news said we should. All of that it well and good, but I still worry about vaccinating my baby girl with a trial vaccination for a flu virus that seems no more dangerous than the general flu and that hasn't mutated into deadly plague. The previous forms of the vaccine back in the 70s was linked to several illnesses, which is far worse than the flu.
I won't be getting it and my husband, who is a nurse, has already decided he won't get it, either. This swine flu vaccine is being rushed into the public. It is also being pushed onto us by every news media outlet in the country. Experts are popping up everywhere saying we should be afraid and blindly take this and not worry about the side effects. They are using scare tactics to make us think we need a vaccine that is being put out before it's even been properly tested. As we all know from other vaccines and medications being pulled off the market before testing, rushing leads to mistakes. I do not want mistakes going into my family.

I was noticing that (correct me if I get this wrong) two fo CNN's 'big' Anchors got the Swine Flu and amazingly made it through without dying! Anderson Cooper and the Dr. Sanjay (sorry about the spelling). They both supposedly got it and have remarkably overcome it.
I was thinking... weird that these two BIG names got it and not an intern.... or camera man...
I've noticed that a LOT of things are being rushed and pushed at us. We are being forced to make fast and rash decisions about everything right now. I don't like it at all.
I'm very against this and the media... man... they should be ashamed calling any of this N*E*W*S.
