My sweet little nature loving daughter finally caught that frog..LOL. She is forever catching things. I try to take a picture of her with her new friends because that's sometimes the only way she will let them go without being sad. She has been working on catching a frog for a while now and finally she got him. Have you or would you play with a frog?

Across the street from my grandmother's house was an adandoned house and we kids used to play over there. There was a huge oak tree in the yard and in the Spring as i remember there were scads of little frogs hopping all over it. We used to love to play with them. And in a mud hole where my x and i used to go park and carry on there were scads of them there as well. They are so cute. Now the toads are one I don't seem to take to real well. They seem a bit intimidating to me.

And they are much bigger too. And have this look on their faces like '-uck off!'

Toads do look a bit more scary than a frog. I think it's the way their all humpy. They even feel a little more yucky.

Sure I would. I catch toads all the time. Give them a little kiss on the head to see if they turn into my dream prince. It hasn't happened yet. It's really cool to watch the look on people's faces when I give the wet lump of gray flesh a little kiss on it's head. After I'm done with the toad I let him/her go to continue on it's merry hopping along.

Hi Jen. Is this the same daughter that caught that little turtle all those months ago? That thing sure was cute! I wanted it for my kids. Oh, who am I kidding...I wanted it for myself! LOL Yep, as you may or may not remember I've caught a few frogs before. The frog in the picture looks a bit too big for my liking. LOL I like the little tree frogs myself. Happy mylotting!

Uhmmm...Not keen on touching frogs! When I was a child I was always too squeamish to touch frogs, lizards, bugs etc and my daughter is just the same; she has a little friend who goes out with a bug catcher and grabs all these bugs and worms, my daughter just freaks out and runs the other way! Your daughter is a cutie and so is her prized catch!

I have never played with a frog but I think it has more to do with me not being in an area that has frogs. I love nature and all types of animals and I would not have a problem playing with frogs if they were around me.

My granddaughter likes to catch small lizards. She has ever since she was small and saw her first one. She's 22 now and still will chase them if she sees one. They are fascinating. When my daughter was about 4 her older brother's has lambs that they raised for a agriculture 4-h club. They were getting ready to show them at the fair. We were over to my dad's place when a toad hopped in the door as we were getting ready to leave. She had to catch the toad to put in an empty bird cage we had at home. She was going to show the toad at the fair. Well she got the toad home but when she found out that there wasn't any toad section at the fair she relucently turned it loose.

I did...but I think those days are passed! But I am truly thrilled that your daughter has this wonderful curiousity for Mother Nature's children and soooo much sensitivity! She would be endlessly amazed/amused here, on Galiano...as having wetlands, nearby..in the evening their is a cacophony of frogs...and during the summer, plants (like tomatoes, container grown) always have a multitude of TREE frogs (the cutest little things, with the biggest voices) in them! They gather in your plants to get the moisture from the daily watering! A pretty brilliant green, and not much bigger than a quarter..who could not help but love them! Good on you, Jen, she's enjoying Mother Nature...not the TV! So, you see, you have a reason to visit the Gulf Islands! She would just love the beach! Cheers, dear girl & have a sparkling day.

That's right pergammano! We do have a reason to visit..lol. I agree that it's so much better for her to be enjoying nature versus the TV. I think of it as a bonding experience for her. I did it when I was a kid too. It surprises people sometimes when I mention I was a "tomboy" as a child..lol.I bet those little tree frogs there are really cute. She would love them. Take care and thanks for responding. Oh..I owe you a rainbow don't I..Sending one to you

Thanks, dear Jen....for the glorious arc of glowing colors! Don't laugh...but we had a late afternoon shower yesterday finalized with the most incredible rainbow, and I knew it came from a dear friend in TN! And wouldn't you know, I forgot to get batteries for my camera yesterday! Egads! Tomboy...I think, it was a lifestyle, soooo enjoyable, and I just know that if I had to do it all over again...I would live it the same way. Snakes, snails and puppy dogs, tails..as they say what little boys are made of, AND LITTLE girls that want to live life to the fullest! What a glorious environment for you daughter to grow up in...Jen! Thanks for painting my sky, beautiful...and one right back at ya! HUGZ!

Hello friend, Yah,i remember very well when i was young,i always like to catch frogs when it rains. I even dived with it when i feel the eagerness to have it caught, becoz frogs were so good of jumping when it is raining and also very slippery that makes it quiet hard to gripped on. That's a good picture, now she can cherish one moment of having the fun with cathcing frogs by herself

Absolutely, I have caught the frogs when I was a child, but I hate toads, it's very disgusted, making me feel be scaried. I remember I caught it in the evening of summer, somethimes I ate frogs when I was very little, it tasted very good. Gradually, my parents told me I shouldn't eat the frogs because the frogs is good for our plants including corns, paddy etc, so the frogs always eat bad worms. Your topic let me remember my childhood, thank you very much!

I just take a picyure of her with the things she catches and start giving her the guilt trip about how his family misses him and how he would be so sad to have to live in a cage. That usually gets her. She's a softy and loves them all. Take care.

I'm a tomboy at heart and have played with lots of critters. My sons were forever bringing home snakes, lizards, frogs, etc. The only one that grossed me out was the one that ended up in the wash machine. Ugh! My granddaughter is OK with frogs but afraid of bugs. We spend a lot of time catching ladybugs and ants and things, and playing with them.

not a frog but a toad. We have a toad or two that hangs around outside in our garden & flower beds & even in our window wells. We do play with them from time to time when we can find them. My oldest wants to keep them as well but if you don't let them go they die & she's had to learn that the hard way.

When I was younger I loved catching toads and frogs!! I always felt so special when I finally caught one. For some reason I loved the feeling of them when they were sitting in my palm. I'd pet them and talk with them for a bit and then let them go. I don't know why, but, I just got such a thrill from catching them! I actually caught quite a few of those fast little things! LOL!
