Being married for 25 years... do you see that much around you?

Well my sister and her husband got today 25 years ago married, for which I sent them all my love and a big congratulation!
It is not that normal anymore here in Europe staying together for so long.
Only the older people(60+) stay together, but even they split up after being together for so many years.
Do you have any idea why people split up so much faster?
Nowadays they get the chance of try-out... live together before getting married, something that was not done in the time of my grandparents. And then having tried out, they decide to get married, but a few months down the road they split up again.
Is this piece of paper than that important that it influences the 'being together' environment?
What do you think? What happens in your environment?
