Do you remember the last time you burnt your tongue? I think everyone has done that at one time or another. I seem to burn my tongue the most often on coffee. I like coffee, but when it is too hot to drink it will be the most likely thing to burn your tongue. I try to let it cool, but sometimes it is hotter than I think.

Hi Snowy, I hate when I burn my tongue, you lose your taste buds and it really lasts a long time too. The last time I burnt my tongue was about 3 days ago and like you I did it on coffee I bought at my favorite convenience store. I was really surprised because I also use cream in my coffee and that usually cools it down to drink comfortably. I always have a hard time letting it cool down, I want my coffee now!

I agree, hot tea gets me way too often. It is always hotter than coffee, the water is boiled which make it hotter than brewed coffee and I do not use cream in my tea, I like hot tea with just a tiny smidge of sugar.
If you burn your tongue on hot cocoa at least you have a marshmellow to help ease the pain and discomfort a little.;)

Coffee seems to be one of the worst offenders. Hot cocoa and tea can also be deadly in terms of "burnt tongue action"

I just burnt my tongue this evening, when I was drinking hot soup, though it's not really serious, the burnt feeling has been staying for awhile. I always burn my tongue when I am drinking hot soup, sometimes I knew it's hot, and I tried to drink slowly, but I still burnt my tongue. Sometimes, it's nice to drink when it's hot.

i don't think I have ever burnt my tongue on soup but I see where it could happen. I don't usually eat my soup when it's that hot.

Hot cocoa and pizza are the two that get me most often. Usually it is the pizza because I do not get to drink hot cocoa much living in Florida its not that cold usually. I hate when I burn my tongue though. Its more annoying than painful most of the time.

Yeah sometimes when pizza is too hot it can cause you to burn your tongue. I've had that happen to me also.

I don't drink coffee so I don't have this problem. About the only thing I burn my tongue on is pizza. I can never wait till pizza cools off, lol. Usually when I burn my tongue it's only sore for a day.

I remember burning my tongue on a baked potato a few years ago.I was in a hurry to eat my dinner as i had to go to work,so i cut up the baked potato thinking that it would cool down quick then i stuffed a bit in my mouth and yes it did burn.I tried to drink water to cool it down,it hurt for ages.

It seems like when you are too eager to eat or drink is when the burning thing happens. It does stay with you for awhile too.

I hate that. I think that last time I burnd my tongue I was drinking hot chocolate. I had bought it at some fast food restaurant and it was really, really hot, I had even let it sit for about 15 minutes before I even tried to drink it and it was still really hot. So I burned my tongue pretty good. It seems when ever I burn my tongue I usually end up biting it shortly after, probably because it is a little swolen after the burn.

Hi snowy22315. I have burnt my tongue so many times. When I usually drink a very hot drink, I will sip it very easily and carefully. I try to make sure that I don't sip too fast or too soon though. When I burn my tongue it is very hard for me to regain my taste buds back again. I have to wait a while until I can eat or drink again. Man shoot!
