My husband and I recently ran into an odd situation. We both feel bad for people and know how hard times are. If we can, we help out. While at McDonalds, we were approached by a man asking for food. He wanted anything, just a little something to get by. So we told him we would be right back, went through the line and got him a breakfast sandwich. He said thank you, and as we were walking out, ran up to us and asked my husband if he had a dollar more so he could get a hash brown. I was caught off guard by this, and couldnt believe he had the nerve! So we walked out. It also seems like lately people will solicit at the restaurants and ask for money to get food. When you offer to buy them food, they say no. It seems like those people just want the money. I feel bad for people, but lately, Im thinking twice about just handing out money and food to people! Just had to vent!

there's a lot of people like those you have mentioned. instead of helping them by giving them food, they wanted money rather than food. i don't know why, maybe they wanted to buy something which isn't good, they just use the people around them. why can't they work in order to have money instead begging on the roads, they are just lazy people, God gave them body and strength to work and i know that He is upset if people is not using it properly.

I do feel bad for people but I also refuse to be taken advantage of. Some time ago there was a man going around looking for donations saying he was deaf. He had little key chains with a note saying he was deaf and homeless so he was looking for donations. We watched him for a while, he was standing by the street and a horn honked from a little ways away. Well, he turned to look at it just like anyone else would - he was most certainly NOT hearing impaired. Which is sad because there are actually disabled people who need to do things like that and he was taking advantage of it. A while ago a co worker was out back taking some bottles out of the building to bring to the recycling depot when two homeless men walked by. He thought that rather than haul the bottles all the way there he would offer them to these guys so they could at least keep the few bucks and buy some food. They actually turned them down because they didn't want to carry them! So they were too lazy to take a hand out. There's my vent!

I have once experienced the same incident. I sat in front of the train station, and a guy in shabby clothes came up to me and struck a pose being poor and asked me if I could give him some money to get a ticket, because his wallet was stolen, he just wanted to go home and saw his wife and child. His tragic story touched me so deeply and I gave him some money. To my surprise, when I got back after a whole vacation, he still solicited there, fabulating story to fool kind-hearted people. After that fraud, I never stopped myself when somebody akin to beggers asked me for help. So it's not your fault to spark such ideas.
