Hello Everyone,
I need some really good advice on a situation I have been having with my now 5 month old puppy.
I have an Akita shephard mix who I got when she was 3 months old, she's now five months old and just won't seem to get "housebroken".
I also have a 1 year old pit bull who was trained and "housebroken" in roughly 3 weeks.
It doesn't seem to matter what I to do for her... ie. walks, letting her play in the back yard, parks,etc...she always seems to wait until she gets back in the house to "relieve" herself...I will say she has days where she will do fine, and then the next day...back to the same old habits.
I'm a "neat freak" and I go around using the doggie cleaner (so she won't smell her old spots and go again),bleach,Mr.Clean etc..and nothing seems to work, she just picks a new spot.
I love her to death and she's such a cutie, but... we just bought a new house and I'm afraid she'll start to damage our wood and family room flooring, a home insurance company has already denied us insurance because of our pit bull...What should I do??? What would you do??

Hello my friend
I had this problem years ago, no matter how long we took to walk our puppy he refused to use the bathroom outdoors, I use to wax my floors but you can always see where I cleaned his mess, he was a german sheperd mixed with something can't recall, but it was too much we gave him away, like you I love my floors to look nice but he would not allow me to keep it that way, it was crazy you see spots here there everywhere he refused to use the bathroom outside for some reason.
Good luck my friend.

Hi Kitty,
Yeah, I think that's what I'm gonna end up doing too, giving her away...I hoped that she'd finally train, but no such luck.
I think I'll just keep the one dog and get a cat...no more messes. lol

Hello my friend
Its sad but you have to do whats best, not sure why this happens but it sucks when they ruin your floors I know the feeling my friend been there done that not good at all.
Well I told you about my kitty, you sure a cat will be o.k with a pit, I hate those dogs with a passion, they scare the crap out of me, cats are great company they make you feel really good, they love to scratch get use to that, buy him something to scratch on and get some catnip it will help, also get him/her fixed really good thing to have done, cats are really easy and inexpensive.
Good luck my friend

I know, most people are scared of pit bulls...my mom doesn't care for him too tough either...lol...but he is a really friendly, really sweet dog, we got him when he was a puppy and he hadn't really suffered any type of abuse yet...so we got him at a good time, as a matter of fact he's even friendlier than the 5 month old puppy.

This is what worked for me. When I would take my dog outside I would carry a treat. If she did her business, I would give her the treat. If not, then she did not get the treat. It took awhile but she finally learned to associate using the bathroom outside with getting a treat. Now she runs to the door everytime she has to go. It takes a lot of patience to housebreak a dog. Please don't give up.

Thanks for the advice :-), I haven't given up and she seems to be doing so much better;-).
I'm happy that my fiance' is as patient as he is because he helped me through the times when I felt like I wanted to give up on her...She's a great puppy and I think she may have been abused previous to her coming to stay with us,we love her a lot and she seems to be coming around now. She's gonna be ok :-)
