I'm quite fed up with computer viruses even if I have an antivirus software installed on my PC. Although I have an antivirus installed, some newly-created viruses and spywares can still infect my PC and I still need to scan my computer to get rid of it. It is better to have an antivirus program installed rather than reformatting your hard drive repeatedly. Your valuable data are surely lost if you haven't backed them up. You can still install an antivirus software on an infected PC, I have tried it before and the antivirus worked pretty well and removed the virus. Prevention is better than cure.

yes i agree, but as you said so yourself, antiviruses are not perfect, so another way to prevent your data from being destroyed or lost altogether, then just back up your files. Me, i do it every Saturday morning, at 9:30 am so that i would be able to ensure that my files are stored safely and in case of a virus attack during the week, at least i have my files safe and secured. and monthly, i do a second back-up in another storage device. so yeah, a bit hassle and time-consuming (around 5-10 minutes since i keep my files in a single folder with plenty of subfolders, for ease of back-up), but at least my files are really safe.

I have my antivirus program always updated on a regular basis but viruses can get very complex nowadays and powerful antivirus is best. Kaspersky is really good. A complete virus protection, I think, is best: an antivirus/antispyware, firewall, anti-phising,anti-rootkit all-in-one Internet security.

No, my computer viruses live their own life and I let them be. We have a peace agreement and we do not want a world war 3.

yes, but there are two viable options too. A pretty good antivirus or a different OS aside from Microsoft. see my upper reply to the owner. I do not see upgrading computers as a viable option since it costs way lot more than just changing to a reliable antivirus or a different OS.

Hello, I had similar problems with my PC. I have installed a good antivirus program known as Kaspersky.Ofcourse before I installed, formatting was done to delete the virus, and refornmating was done in only one drive where my OS is installed.Kaspersky will sort out all the problems and is a good antivirus program. I am much relieved now.The program has to be updated freaqquently in a day. That should help you. Thanks.

Yes, I am also fed up of viruses, how they come instantly by just connecting the computer to internet, I sometime think that from where they come, sometime I thought that they are created by the Antivirus making companies itself.

I used to get viruses on my computer. Most especially that I do allow other people to insert removable disk on my computer to share some of my files. Well, I am glad that I have used a good anti virus. It has been on my computer for almost a year and I have noted that I have never experience any problem such as viruses and other harmful things. I am using "avira' anti-virus. A friend of mine who is a computer programmer has introduce me to this anti-virus. Not only it is effective, it is also very light and its free.

it's no use to install any anti-virus on a infected pc,since the virus alreat spread and it will just put its self on the exception list, most newer virus has this feature.what i can recommend though is use deepfreeze it will prevent your system from unnecessary changes of any kind even if you don't have an anti virus you are well protected just restart your pc and voila everything goes back to its original state.you can do research about deepfreeze or similar applications.that's what i have now. an do clean your pc first before doing putting it since it will also be useless.

Don't use cheap or free 'antivirus' software. Use a good 'internet security' software which is much more complete such as Kaspersky Internet Security or AVG Internet Security.

Hi there, in spite of having an anti virus, my computer still has a virus. Of course because of the anti virus, it is not able to do anything in my system, but the problem is, when I down load some thing in the pen drive, it goes into the pen drive, and when I give the pen drive to some of my friends, they get very angry with me.

if i was in your place and i had some important data then first i would try to install an antivirus and try to clear the threats but if it didn't work then i would just copy my data to a hdd and format my whole pc. yes you are right these days threats are damn dangerous and smart enough, they wont allow you to install any kind of antivirus program on your computer... so it's always better to install antivirus at the beggining itself ! but like they say """It's Never Too Late !".

Before I really started getting into computers I remember being inundated by viruses. Things have changed now! I carry out regular backups on a Friday morning and this ensures that all my important information remains intact. If I do suffere a catasrophe then I have the means to restore my backups. I recommend that you do this on a regular basis. Get yourself an external hard drive, something you can plug into your usb port, this is the easiest option. The most important thing is to make sure that your antivirus product is kept constantly up to date. There are new viruses being found all the time but there are things that we can do to ensure that our system works very well. I haven't had any problems with my pc to date. If you have backed up your date then it's ok to format your computer and start fresh. Andrew

hi there. I am also fed up with this too, especially with the computer shops here in the Philippines. That every time you mount a USB, it is already infected with lots of viruses and trojans and worms. To address this problem, i can only see 2 viable solutions: one, a pretty good antivirus program. personally, i prefer using Kaspersky as it detects everything and as of the moment, i do not have any problem with it. Next and final solution, try another operating System. not downplaying Microsoft, but it really has the most virus and application problems unlike using Mac or Linux. So that's up to you right now, but for me, im planning on using Linux in the near future. as of right now, i am using microsoft, but when i upgrade my computer, i could probably choose one without an OS or probably a Mac if i have the budget.

I have antivirus installed so it doesnt bother me much. Also I have c leaner which i use after every time I switc off the modem, it does help a lot. But the worst thing is when the machine ahngs!!! I hate to install programs especially operating syustem as it takes a lot of time and there is no other option but to do this when harddisk hangs!!
