Computers do tend to slow down from time to time. When you install more programs more of your hard disk space is being used. There are things that you can do to monitor your computer. I use the following utilities on a regular basis: Disk cleanup, Internet Options in order to remove the temporary files and cookies. You should also keep an eye on your startup programs, those little icons on the bottom right hand side of the screen. The more programs you have starting up when you first turn on your computer, these can all slow your computer down. Ask yourself whether you really need all of those icons. There's a program that I absolutely love and it's free, it's called WinPatrol. I don't know if you have ever heard of it. Well, you can install this program onto your pc for free and it monitors your start up programs. It also informs you when there is a startup program trying to gain access to the startup menu. Programs sometimes end up there with you unawares. Check out this website and get yourself this program, www.winpatrol.com Good luck. Andrew

I have realized that the more software you put on the computer, the slower it runs. So, first rule - install only necessary applications and remove all the unneeded ones. Second, check for viruses and spyware as they are even more notorious for slowing computers down. Third, you need to defrag your drive - I highly recommend Auslogics Disk Defrag - It is simply awesome, quick and the best damn defragmenting program I have ever used.
Lastly, you could make a backup file of all your documents, pics and videos and reinstall windows (and this time make sure that you don't install any unnecessary programs. Happy computing!
