Ever been on a 'mystery' date?

I don't mean a blind date, or a date with someone you don't know at all, but have you ever gone out on a date with someone you found attractive but knew so little about that you didn't even know what they did for work??? I met a guy just over a week ago and we exchanged numbers because I thought he was adorable, but he refused to tell me what he did until we went on our first date. I guessed a bunch of things, but he kept saying that until I agreed to meet him for an actual date I wouldn't get to know because he wanted me to like him for him, not judge him based on his occupation. I finally agreed and we went out last night, and imagine my surprise when I discover he's a police officer! It was the very first thing I guessed, but he wouldn't agree to answer yes or no even if I guessed the correct occupation. So have you ever agreed to go out with someone you just met without knowing what their job is?

How did it turn out, did you make another date with him? I don't date anymore, I'm done with all that. But when I did, I would have gone out with someone without knowing what they did if the attraction was there.

well it's one way to get a date, not to say something that you want to know about. maybe he thought you might run the other way fast if you knew before hand his job. i've never done it, but i've been on a blind date, when i was 18. could have gotten of my butt and gone to meet him, while i had the chance the night before. i was dobbed in by my best friend at the time, and a truckie i'm good friends with. he we had a good night out, he was a cop on suspension and about 28 at the time.

LOL I made the mistake of being really curious when we first met, so I think a small part of his reasoning for not telling me was to keep me in suspense. We talked on the phone a few times beforehand just so I could get a feel for him, and every time when I'd bring it up he'd play coy and tell me I'd have to wait for our date, whenever that may be.

I haven't had a date like that. I've had dates where I've not really known the person but they've been open about everything i've asked - never said no i wont tell you til we go out on a date together. I'd actually feel rather iffy on even going if that was the case...maybe even wonder if he was like married or something.

I think my biggest concern when he wouldn't tell me was that he was unemployed or something, but wanted to make sure I'd agree to go out with him just once before he told me. It was almost a relief when he told me the truth, like "Ohhh, you're a cop. Now I understand." I know why he did it, too. It can go to one of two extremes -- some women would never dream of dating a cop because let's face it, there are a lot of cons, and others do nothing but date men in uniform because it's a status thing. With a job like that you want to make sure she has a taste of you for you.

Since he didn't answer your question when you first asked, he wan't playing by the book, was he? I think you should write him a ticket, or possibly arrest him. Definitely hold him accountable...lol.

LOL I get the impression he wouldn't mind being held accountable!

Well, I've never done that before. I guess, it's too risky for me..lol. I prefer dating someone whom I knew before, or if someone introduced him to me, at least I would like to know what he did for living :)
