Have you ever checked what is your reading speed.
Reading speed is calculated with no of words your can read per minute.
Some people can even read with 5000 words per speed. just imagine 5000 words per speed! how fast they are .
Well my reading speed is 900 words per minute.
Check ur self ///

Well, i read quite fast but i have no idea how to estimate how fast i am. that said, i can usually finish a book with about 100-300 pages in a couple of hours. But it all depends on yourself. you read fast to skim through and you read slowly to absorb it. reading should be enjoyed, which is why i think that the speed of it most probably won't matter. :)

Hi cherry lover.
reading speed matters .
Reading fast doesn't mean that you are skimming a book.
consider if you are given a article of five long papers and 1 hr time is provided to explain to your client in detail. would you first try to read it and absorb it and then explain to client?

oh. i was really under the impression that you meant the reading speed for enjoyment. of course, if you are presented with a lengthy material that you are required to explain to a client in an hour, i would capture the main points and ideas of the paper rather than reading through every little detail. i would think that would be a technique known as skimming, right?

Hello mohan. I have never counted my reading speed, but I am sure that I am a slow reader when it comes to reading because I am used to slow reading and it is hard to change my reading habit. If I read fast, I don't think that I can fully grasp the exact meaning. I love to think when I am reading. So that is the main reason for my slow reading speed. lol

I've never heard of a reading speed test, but now I'm curious to find out what my reading speed is. I think it's a little on the slow side. I've always wished I could be one of those folks who could read and comprehend so quickly.

I could read very fast but it really also depends if you understand the material you are reading.

My ex-boyfriend always teased me about how slowly I read. My thing is, I hate just rushing over the words and not comprehending anything. I'd rather read and absorb things; it helps me to make a "movie" in my mind while reading.

Hi, mohan89, I think it depends on what kind of reading materials. For example, if it is novel or story, I think the reading speed is much higher than reading textbooks or profetional books. Is that right? In addition, reading those books that written in foreign lauguage is also lower than reading books publiced by mother language. Good luck.

You know, up until this year I've never heard very much about reading speed, I have absolutely no clue what my own reading speed is. However, my daughter brings home homework this year, she is in first grade, that is supposed to test their reading speed and fluency. They are expected by the end of the school year to be able to read 40 words per minute. She has already exceeded that and is at 60 words per minute right now. This is reading out loud. For me, I don't care what my reading speed is as long as I understand what I am reading.
