Music composing software

cake walk is ok it cost alot but you can either hook up your key board or guitar to it

Use FL Studio, or Reason if you have midi cables and a keyboard. You don't need midi for FL Studio, you can just use your mouse, or your keyboard to program notes. You can get some really good stuff from FL Studio, and it's really noob-friendly. You should definitely check it out!

Probably it is not what you are looking for, but check Band-in-a-Box of PGMusic. It is a great music software. Dificult to describe in a few words. Go to www.pgmusic.com and check if they have a demo version available to download, it is better to check if you like it. You don't find some features like the melodist there (yes, it composes you songs instantly), but it allows you to have a general feel of the product. The full software will not solve your problem directly, but may help you in the composition process. Good luck!
