My husband is planning to buy a new mobile phone. I've an officemate who sells phone from China. Compared to the selling price in the market it's very cheap. And it actually just look like the original brand but of course quality wise it's a big question mark (?) Does anybody here using a phone made in China? What is the brand and what can you say about it? How long have you been using the phone? My husband thinks that we may be wasting our money. Please, i would really appreciate your opinion.Thanks.

No offense but in buying products of considerable value and is truly a necessity, it would be wiser to buy from the shops that carry an array of products. Nokia has a shop and so does Sony and other cellphone manufacturers as well. This way you will get the most value for your money, you are covered with warranty and is assured of the product's quality as well.
If worse comes to worse and you buy the cellphone your office mate is offering and it's not performing up to standards, you might get into difficulty with the office mate. If you truly want to invest your hard earned money in a cellphone, buy from the reputable stores.

I think it depends on the product not all chinese products are low qualities. I think because some Chinese Manufacturers are not for the quality but for the quantity that's why some chinese products are defective. I agree that it is also depends on how you take care the product.

but then even those nokia and sony ericsson phones and other branded ones you buy from their own shops, most of them are made in china. either if it's made from finland or china, nokia phone builds are the same. except however when it's an imitation nokia. it's so easy to distinguish between a fake nokia and the authentic one, though. price is one.

almost all the phones and gadgets i bought are "made in china". and these are the "branded" ones. almost all big phone and gadget makers have their factories or assembly lines in china, taking advantage of the cheap labor there. and my "china-made" or "china-assembled" phones and gadgets are durable and they lasted long.

Dear friend,
In our place in South India, Chinese products are great demand as they are cheap and the phone features are more. But there are defects and this is mostly projected in price. But most of their phones do have a better result here in our local place.

On a personal note, I would suggest not include China phones from your list. Why? Not to offend any Chinese but most of the item sold by China are substandard. It might harm your family. Of course that's why it is cheap because of the low quality. Why suffer the consequence of having an item at a low price but you can only use it in a matter of time? why not invest on branded ones when it would serve you longer?

For discussion purposes, China made products are substandard. Thats why they are cheaper than the branded ones. But why do people buy them? Its not because of the features but mostly, people cannot afford to buy this products in its original manufacturers. Do you know that one feature these sub-standard products are lacking is that they have removed its safety features? These products will still function as that of the original ones without the safety features. Like for instance a safety feature which prevents your cell phone battery from exploding due to over-charging? The cell phone will works fine if this feature is removed, but the danger is of getting an accident is higher. Another one is that, pirated DVD's have much lower quality compared to the original ones. But still it sells like hot cakes in every corner of the streets. Thats because, many of us cannot afford the "real thing". For me, I already used a cell phone made from China (the one with the TV), and I've still using it for four years now.

yeebutler, sorry my friend. please don't get offended. this is only base on personal experience. i agree with you though, that not all china products are of low quality. but i have experiences and my friend's too that after buying china phones, when the phones accidentally fell or get broken especially the iphone, they easily get damage and the worst part is, if you have it repaired it would only get damaged over and over again. base on this experiences, i am to conclude that china phones are made not to last but to become disposable..

china products are not that bad... compare it to the philippines? do we have phones made in the philippines or gadgets??? duh, i think none, almost all products we see is made in china... even if u go to malls...
i;ve been using a phone made in china, so far so good, its always working and the battery lasts for 3 to 5 days, it depends upon the user, even the branded ones are prone to defects someday--- broken lcd, no signal and etc...
i have a motorola phone i bought it from globe and it is original and it stated made in china... its still alive since 2003...
my phone now is also made in china, but its ntc approved...most china phones we see in stores are not ntc approved.. because it is sold without passing thru ntc... or smuggled and dont have the right papers.
