Hi friends, My-lot is a great place to learn new things, and of course some money also. I am an Indian and I did not taken any training to learn English, My friend improved their English by joining the classes, They all studied in English medium convent school, while I am not. I improved my English by myself study, grammar books, and dictionary played a great role for this. When I respond/discussion here, sometime I take the help of shbdkosh.com On mylot I am learning well, Because all the day I use to write in English even I started thinking IN English, But for a while some mistake can be happen. On mylot, there are so many peoples who know english very well, so please help me to improve my skills, you can read my discussions to take a look on my language and please suggest me what should need correction. Practice makes things perfect. Do not take English as something that is really hard to learn. Remember its a skill that can be improved through constant practice. Never mind, wrong grammar or twisted tongue when talking, everything started from 0. The point is you are learning and open for new things. Just keep on practicing, time will come and you will not even notice that you already master the English language. It will go out naturally. You are in the right track. Continue reading and try to watch English american movies as often as possible as well. Expose yourself to English by simply watching and listening.

Yes that's right and I use to watch the English Movies, But there is a problem to watch them, You know the American Use to say English very formally, In other words, Some time I Do not understand what they said, I can not understand the proper pronunciation of the words. But however It helps ... "NEHA"

Well that is because of their accent. I also find them hard to understand sometimes :). By the way, your English is good; your self studying is really effective.

Your determination to learn is contagious. Obviously the level of your knowledge and the ability to put your thoughts into words is, I can say, phenomenal. I am not a native speaker too and I continue to improve my English here in mylot. cheers.

Hi Neha I really appreciate your thirst for English language. Generally there are two parts in learning any language. One is the writing part the other is the communication part. You can easily improve your writing part by going through books and newspapers etc. the other part is very important, the communication part. Generally people are good at writing English but are very poor at communicating. As far as I can see your written English is good (excepting small grammatical errors). So I advise you to concentrate more on English communication and I tell you that you can gain it by only communicating with people. All the above hardwork you have done only increases your vocab but not your communication skills. So concentrate more on them. Watch English movies(believe me they help a lot when learning English is concerned). I assume that you are a student or in search of a job. If that is the case then I need not emphasize you on the importance of communicating in English. Anyways all the best. I hope you improve your communication part of English as well.

Exactly, you got the point, I am very poor at communication. I feel hesitation while communicating with other in English. I use to watch English Movies to improve it, I rent/buy both version (Hindi and English) to understand better, I use to watch English version first then on next day use to watch Hindi version. thanks for response "NEHA"

hi kanukrishna you are doing quite well so just a suggestion I did not take, instead of taken, and some mistakes instead of mistake as some takes a plural noun but I am very impressed . You did this all on your own and with many you use singular people other than that your discussion is perfect. I am not criticizing you at all. you are doing great.

You are doing very well especially since you learned to do it on your own. I can help you with this question alone. When you said, "And I did not taken any training to learn English." The proper way to say it would have been, "And I did not have any training in how to speak English." or "I have not had any training in English." Also the word people is already plural so you don't have to add an s to the end of it. The singular would be person. But I think you are doing really well. I do not know a thing about your language and I admire you for learning our language, and don't worry even those of us who have used English our entire lives still mess up sometimes.

English is included in our subjects in Elementary, High School and College here in the Philippines. Sometimes it is very hard for me to be fluent because I'm not a native speaker but I tried my best to write English. I admit sometimes my grammar is incorrect but I'm improving because of mylot. I also regret for not paying attention the importance of studying English before. Practice makes perfect I admire you for that. You can practice your English here in mylot.

Hello there! Well, you are right! This is a nice place to learn and to practice while earning. You will improve yourself here just by reading because we can learn a lot from reading the information shared by others here. Improvement may take time but you will notice that soon, just keep on trying until you get it right. Have a nice day!

Hello i think its great you have learned english by yourself. My advice would be to read, write, listen, and if you have the chance to talk english, or whatever language you want to learn. I have studied english my whole life, and still, since its not my mother language, i still have a lot of mistakes.

hi kanukrisha, well me also i was not very fluent to speak english and not so very to write in English. But if you're willing to learned, you can do that. What im doing,im watching english movies that are very difficult to understand-i mean the accents like british and australian accents.Try to watch any kind of movies or any news it will help you a lot, or read some books, like for IELTS books, or find some website that will teach you GRAMMAR,spelling, everything. And also try to practice, what you ever learned or study put in practice. You will see the results. There are some peoples they dont even go to school, they dont even finish there masteral degree or whatever the degree .But they are very good in English.Anybody can speak and write but only thing we need to do is just improvements. They said practice makes perfect. So always respond to any discussion.

Read in Enlish and watch TV a lot more. In time you will find that the language comes natrually. It will take a few months but it should not be a problem. You can also join " Livemocha " where you can bone up on languages or even learn other languages you might be interested in.
