Luckily I have been to both of the places for visits where Altitude and Depth both are concerned, but whenever a choice is thrown upon me to......I prefer the high Altitude,as if it calls me.Love to go for a daily walk/climb to the sloppy mountain, full of trees, flowers even some part of it are cultivated for peas, the serenity and ultimately the height from where I can have a look to the vast open land scape beneath....the villages from where the smoke comes out of the houses and shops,a faint sounds comes to the ear about all the hussling and bussling from the below village. On the hill top the fresh air,the birds, the Sun set,the fragrance of flowers the bees and the butterfly......its really the whole nature which surrounds us are few of the attraction that really-really pull me toward it self i.e. to say the High Altitude. It is the small mountain at the Pattan beside the Jawarabar Cinema-hall,where I have been for a small stretch of about 9 months, when my father was posted over there.....my heart still cries for those nostalgic Time and days that i have spent with my parents. Its The Mountain that makes all the difference......I am sure that all those families who have been there in the past and as well as those who are presently at Kashmir must be relishing the Posting very much.

This is a very difficult question but if i really have to pick one, I would say High Altitude because most of the time the best view of a certain place is seen high up in the sky. lol. Just like a Monet, some things are best viewed from afar. :)

Yes Dear lealuvy2j, your are of the same league like me, I too would prefer to go for a high hill top instead of the dark depth of the sea,its rejuvenating by a visit or a walk to the mountain, the freshness, the near touching the sky experience, the vast view........ though on the other hand we cannot deny the fact that the depth of the sea is also as much as fascinating as the walk to the mountain top,it too have some secrets in its womb which are in fact much bigger in its way because the depth of the sea it self a whole new world where life is in abundance in its different new form then ours........ Thanks for your lovely comments.

I went snorkeling here in the Philippines before and the sea is really colorful and fascinating but I still picked the mountains because I love the feeling of sereneness there. But overall, I really love experiencing both since there is an incomparable sense of adventure with both of them :)

I am in favor of altitude too. If I cannot be up high, at least I want to be close to the base of some mountains. I like to have water nearby and I love to go sit on the shore of the ocean, but I do not like to go down into the water or down into the earth. Some friends have wanted me to go down into caves with them before and although I did it a couple times, I did not like that at all. I like to be like Maria in the Sound of Music, way up on the mountain top, running and singing in the sun.

Hi drannhh, its really dynamic and shooting to the ear with the Music, the mountain top, the Sun,and the friends.....its nothing better than this,no one can ask more than this.God have given such a beautiful world to live on its a blessing to the all the living being. Even though the depth of the sea too is another world where so much is to be discovered and a colorful world with lots of different sea creatures in a camouflaged way have ingenious way to feed themselves are also fascinating to watch only on television and that's it. Very Very thanks for your bright idea.

I like love snorkeling and do it when I am traveling in a tropical location. I am happy to see colorful coral below me and there the water is crystal clear. I was nervous in the murky water and delighted when I did manage to see the manta ray. In Samoa the tide took me way out and it was scary to be in the deep sea. I had to move in a semi circle to be able to get back to the beach. In the Maldives I went snorkeling in rough water. It was like I was being pushed by the waves. Sea water kept going down my snorkel. I felt frightened and I was grateful that someone took back to the boat. I have climbed up three mountains in my life so far. I have enjoyed the challenge and the amazing views. I went out for a day from the backpackers hostel in Northland in New Zealand. The hostel manager dropped me off at the bottom of the mountain. I climbed it and got excellent views. Then due to the time I had to go down the experienced climbers only route. It was very steep and really challenging to get down. I felt an amazing achievement. Wow!

I have done both as well. Our last vacation was in the Smokey mountains and we went up so high we were up in the clouds, it was very cool and the scenery was beautiful. Next time I want to see the ocean though. I crave the ocean. I have to go to visit the ocean at least every other year. I love swimming in the ocean, catching the waves and riding them in.

Congratulation for the lovely vacation you had and again having plan for the oceanic ride. It seems you enjoy both of the spheres; the altitude as well as the depth of the ocean in the same percentage. Its very refreshing for we the mylotters to go through your experience, satisfaction, and reference of your visits thanks for your sharing of the satisfaction with the mylotters.

I have not been to ocean depths. Come to think of it I have not even seen the bottom of a lake or big pond. The reason is because I have not been involved in deep sea diving. However I have walked on mountains and even crossed a couple of them. The experience was average. I think next time I should visit a much beautiful mountain.

Definitely the fresh air is what I have concern of because in the city where usually all of us are living are we breath and leave in polluted air. But in the rural it would be a clean and fresh air! I also enjoy when I have the chance to have a vacation in a rural place is the calmness,,, a deafening calmness! That's what we need because in the city we have a lot of noise pollution too.

Sorry I haven't said which i prefer, I prefer both but if I have to chose one then that would be the high altitudes because it is where you find calmness, and definitely fresh air.
