Research showed that eating while listening to lively music makes you eat five mouthful. Listening to slow music makes you eat four mouthful and three mouthful with no music. Aside from that, doing other things while eating makes you eat more than what you need. Like eating while watching television, playing games, driving, walking etc., this may lead to mindless eating.
Do you do other things while eating? what are they?

Yeah, there's a book entitled Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink. It said that most of us don't realized we are eating more than we intend. The human stomach isn't sensitive enough to notice caloric differences, and often it doesn't register how much has been eaten until 20 minutes or more after the food has been swallowed. So people instead rely on their eyes, ears and noses to tell them when to stop eating. and they often overeat as a result. We are tricked by our environment that's mindless eating. In this book you can have personalized mindful eating tips that suit in your diet.

I think so. And the reason of this is that, when you're listen to music or watching tv, you distract yourself, you don't pay attention to what you're eating, so you don't notice how much do you eat

Yeah, you're right starsailover. When you're doing something while eating your mind was not focused on the food that you eat, instead on the other thing so big chances that you eat more.

I don't eat when I'm listening to music. I only listen to music when I'm relaxing or exercising. I do eat while at the computer and television. I know this is such a bad habit. You always feel like you have to eat something while watching a movie. Do you ever feel like that? I do. I always have to make popcorn or some other snack. I'm sure if people cut out snacking while watching television that they would be a lot thinner.

yeah it's true, listening to music while eating makes you forgot that you already have eaten lots of food. i love it when i am watching tv or just listening to music while munching on some junkies. i know that it's not healthy but i just love it.

I originate from England, but now live in Spain. Here, food is the star of mealtimes, and music, tv or anything else is not allowed to detract from the serious business of enjoying good fresh food with family and friends. I've enthusiastically embraced the Spanish way of eating, and not only do I enjoy my food more these days, I've lost around 7lbs without even trying.

Yeah, when you're watching television, movies or playing games your mind was not concentrating on what you eat but rather on what you're doing. That's what they called as mindless eating. That can caused obesity especially to the children to often eat while doing something.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I don't think i am one of those people who does this, because why i scoop my food, i will only scoop how much food i would like to eat before i even start listening to music or watching tv. it is all in the mind actually, if you have already settle your mind in eatting a certain amount no other distraction can change that. but to those people who eats when all the food is place on the table and all they do is keep on grabing while doing other task this is what you call mindless eating which is bad. have a mind set and it will just do nicely.

I have been listening to music after dinner
The meal is best not to listen to music, but after dinner you can listen to music.
As the music not only promote blood circulation, but also to increase peristalsis of the stomach and digestive gland secretion, is conducive to metabolism. Therefore, after a meal break, due to listen to some soothing rhythm, melody and beautiful, a wonderful blend of music, to better digest food very helpful.
