Whey typhoon "Ondoy" hit the philippines our town was one of those badly hit. Flood was never been experienced before as far as the old people can remember. Going out in the street and seeing the great effect of the flood to our place makes me forget the personal damage it has done for us. Sure we experience the hassle and the discomfort of flood and mud filling our old house but many people we came to know are out there hanging for dear lives not just of their own but of little one they treasure most. Some are at the roof of the house, some are above trees and some others are literally hanging on ropes just to not be carried away by the past current that looks like an angry river. That first night, without much resources of our own, together with friends after eating a meager dinner, decided to share a pot of rice porridge to a nearby evacuation center. We felt embarrassed at first what can a pot of hot rice porridge do to these hungry people? How can it go among so many? But we did it anyway. That night it sure make some stomach relieved of hunger and cold pangs, and they were thankful. But from that night on God has given us more opportunities to share more and be partners of many other organizations who are able to help. It was all worth it.

Hi beaushell!
They say that the best in us always came out whenever needed. It is really nice to know that you still found a way to help and reach out the other victims of this devastation eventhough your were also a victim and not spared from this.
Though I really know the great damage and destruction that these calamities have brought in our life, but it have also brought some good things such as the unity and caring that every people wanted to share. Hearing from the news the big amount of donations that every TV station have collected just shows how many people wanted to help.
Have a nice day!

that is very noble of your to really reach our even you yourself is a victim too. But I think that is a natural thing that happens when calamity strikes. In our case there were neighbors that were not in good terms with each other but during the calamity but then during the flooding they seem to have patch things up and helped each other and forgot that there were things affected their relations with each other. I think this flood has created some kind of cleansing too in the sense that people indifferent with each other tend to reconcile because of these calamity.

It is very kind of you to share what little you have to those who lost everything... our area was not affected by Typhoon Ondoy... and we will be forever greatful for that... so i tried to give my share to someone who lost all his possessions... that he is the maintenance guy at my office... i offered him some of the stuff that i don't use in my apartment... and he gladly accepted them... saying that he is very greatfull...
