Do you take supplement like vitamins? How about your children?

My husband is quite health conscious. He will always take
vitamins. He encouraged my son to take multi-vitamins daily.
I am not so into it. I will take it once in awhile like
fish oil capsules , evening primrose oil and vitamin C.
IN actual fact vitamin E is very good, anti-oksidant.
It also helps to boost our immune system (C & E)
1) Do you take vitamins/ supplements everyday?
2) What vitamins, C, E, minerals?
3) Any particular brands?
4) Do you ensure your children have them too?
5) Chewable or capsule or liquid?
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

I've read from several sources that even a very balanced diet doesn't always give you your 100% RDA of all vitamins and my diet is very picky as it is!
I take Multibionta which takes care of pretty much all the vitamins. I also take fish oil (or its veggie equivalent, flaxseed oil) and calcium supplements (which have really positively affected my teeth and nails), but with calcium you have to take it with magnesium or it can cause serious constipation!
I don't have kids yet, but I think when I do I'll make them take a vitamin tablet too.

Not sure if this is available in your country, but if you want your children to have an impressive height, you should make them take a height-booster supplement called Cherifer. It really works!

Dear Phaedra,
Glad to hear from you, Happy to meet you
You are having a very good intake of health supplements for your
overall health. It is really good that when you take calcium supplements,
take it together with magnesium - it will helps for better absorption.
Vitamin A, C & E also excellence! For ladies above 25 years old, they
advise to take evening primrose oil daily.
Thanks for sharing, hope to hear your views on my other topics too!

Lately my kids always get running rose, flu and cough. I am wondering is that because of they have stop taking the vitamin C supplements. They used to take vitamin c but after all I am lazy to buy a new one so they have stop taking the vitamin c for quite a number of months already.
During our latest visit to our family doctor, I have bought a bottle of multivitamin for my kids. Hope they will get to be more healthy.

i used to take centrum but i found out that during my monthly period i would need to used an adult diaper changed every 2-3 hours for 4 days and night sanitary pads for the remaining 5 days. had always had long periods of monthly visits but not that hard flowing. this happens whenever i would pop a vitamin pill. so, i just resort to the vitamins that tang juice drink has. believe me there are and they work. proof is that am not calcium deficient because of just a glass of this fortified delicious drink.
as for my kid i don't give him vitamins anymore since almost everything he takes in are fortified and i read something about one overdosing in some vitamins that can be bad for the liver or something...

Dear Ritchelle,
Thanks for sharing your experience here. It is very informative,
truly appreciate it. I totally agree with you, overdose of vitamins
and too much of 'unknown' ingredients is bad for health. We should
take moderately those basic Vitamin C just to strenghten our body
immune system. It is good to know that you have daily intake of tang
juice drink. Take care and all the best :)

We adults tend to forget ourselves for we put our children first before us. We should not. We should still continue nurturing ourselves. How can we take care of the people around us if we do not take care of ourselves. We cannot give back if we do not fill our needs first. Taking care of ourselves like taking vitamin supplements is a good way to be healthy. Vitamins should not just be for the kids but for the grown-ups as well.

Dear hotsummer,
I am just like you too. I always knew that multi vitamins and health
supplements are good for our body. But I just can't discipline myself
to take it daily. I tend to forget about it especially Evening Primrose Oil.
I will start to take daily at the beginning, then becomes once weekly ...
left it on the table, or in the fridge and soon ..without I realise, it
expired!
I hope I can change my habit and get some daily intake of Vitamin C and
multi vitamins...
Cheers and happy myLotting!

I will be 54 years old next month and weight barely 120 pounds. I have fun taking care of my 4 year old grand daughter. I am busy every day. Happy MyLotting.

Hi Iriene, my son gets enough vitamins in his diet not to need supplements but I do give him a 'Brain Booster' each morning which is a childs chewable fish oil capsule. He enjoys it.
I take calcium every day as I hate milk, and cranberry tablets. I take a multi vitamin when I remember but they are grossly huge to follow. Also we both sometimes have soluble vitamin C especailly in the winter.
I'm not certain if they do any good at all but the calicum is a must, I just love taking it as it's like chewing chalkI have to get them all online from the UK as I can get five time the quantity for the same money I pay here.

Hi Iriene,
I don't have a health freak hubby here, but he does buy some supplement home if happen his friends approach him. He bought some supplement from Amway, Nuskin and Ni Life before. What is annoy me is he bought but he does not take the supplement. SO I have to feed him the supplement everyday. But sometimes he will give many excuses and refuse to take it. Or else they just sit in the fridge and I see some of them are going to expire soon. I worry now is he does not take the supplement on time and he could not get the effect properly. Right now we have Lecithin E Essential fatty acid food and wholefood wheatgrass & Alfalfa at home.
For my children, I have just bought a bottle of Champs Multivitamin supplement. It is lysine chewable. They treat it as sweet and they like it and always want to take more and more. So I have to control them not to eat over the dosage.

For me, I only taking vitamin E now. I have heard of this evening primrose oil before. I think I have taken this evening primrose oil few years back. But I have forgotten what is the use of it.

Dear Vingyan,
LOL.... you have to take care of so many babies.
The Big Baby (hubby) and those beautiful son and
daughter too. You must take some vitamin like A,
C and E, perhaps some evening primrose oil too.
I only know how to advise people but myself also
lazy and not discipline enough to take everyday!
It is good if we can take some essential vitamins
daily just in case our daily food intake is not
sufficient enough especially those nutrients that
vanish due to cooking process, preservatives and etc.
Thanks for sharing, 'Health is Wealth'

HI Iriene,
Another interesting topic from you again.
I never take any supplements like vitamins for myself. When I was young, my parents do gave me Scotts Emulsion Orange flavour, but once I grow up, I stopped taking it.
For me, I eat lot of fruits and vegetables and I hope all these are quite sufficient for me to get a healthy life.
As for my son, he is taking Scotts Emulsion since he was 2 years old. I am giving him Orange flavour. I don't think he can't take the Original flavour as I msyelf also dislike the original flavour.
Same time, my son is still taking Gripe water since he was born and till now, he still continue having both gripe water and Scotts emulsion everyday after his breakfast.

like Yakult or Vitagen. Cornflakes are also enhanced with vitamins...
So, Shia..perhaps you should consider some vitamins for yourself.

I never felt any need for such things because at home we always have well balanced food. My family is highly health conscious people and so we depend on lot of natural foods.
Luckily for us no doctor is on our payroll till today. Our daily intake includes lot of various types of vegetables, fish, dry fruits, honey, seasonal fruits including bananas which is a must. Yoghurt, buttermilk, barley water. All types of spices like cinnamon, ginger, garlic, cloves etc.
At the same time we are not that fussy or finicky types. When at friends place we eat what ever is available.

Natural fresh food is the best. Our forefathers has been on
natural and fresh food and during the olden times there are
no health supplements like vitamins, minerals, capsules, weight
gainers etc. They are living healthily with proper diet and exercise.
However, for those who lack of nutrients, being 'picky' on food, really
have to consider Vitamin C, calcium etc. Thanks for sharing and take care

Anyway, before my pregnancy, I used to take fish oil, evening primrose and vit C. however during the pregnancy, I stop as what doctor advise. I only had the non acidic Vit C during those period. And now after stop for so long, I am just not so into it to pick it up.
1) Do you take vitamins/ supplements everyday?
No, I take only if I can remember..

I will have Vit C, fish oil & evening primrose
3) Any particular brands?
Nope..
4) Do you ensure your children have them too?

I will surely prefer chewable when I was younger, and now capsule.. I never never like the liquid.. even for those medication.
