While winter is right around the corner, the fall colors in New England simply take my breath away. The bright reds, and yellow, blending in with the greens are a picture a that I would like to savor forever. Unfortunately, there will be a day, when we will get a big gush of wind, and all those wonderful leaves will fall to the ground, and the colors will be no more until next year. How sad that this time of year doesn't stay longer.
Has anyone seen the colors of New England? I know some people who have come all the way from Pennsylvania, just to enjoy the scenery here, at this time of year. Some places even have bus tours to come and look at the colors.
Has one ever come to take a gander at it all? Does your trees change colors where you live during the Fall?

Oh I love the changing of the seasons and the hard to predict weather. The only thing I have to say that I really don't like is when the weather gets so so cold that it is painful to even step outside. Oh and Ice....I don't like the ice. Other than that....I love it.

Hi sweet chariot, I havent visited england but I have seen alot of pictures. It was quit a popular thing to keep a large photo(of the maple trees lining the roads and the leaves giving a bright carpet on the ground) framed and kept in most houses back in the ninties.
I love winters as I get to see many flowers everywhere. We live in an apartment and the plot next to ours is a plant nursery. It is a good iew from my bedrrom window...The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is to see the diffrent flowered that flowered. We also have two parks near our flat and it is a pleasnat sight to go for a walk there...

We do get to experinece all seasons but the difference is not as much as yours. Here we do not have trees with leaves which change colour with season. But the basic fall of leaves, giving a bare look and then new leaves come whihc gives a fresh look. But not all trees shed leaves, so it is not very bare. Also though we have flowers all round the year, it is maximum in autum and winter.

The photo of New England is beautiful so many thanks. I haven't ever been to New England but have heard in fall the colors are stunning. I live in Europe and it is autumn at the moment. The scene in woodland is beautiful hear with all the golden and bronze colored leaves. The leaves were green and now they are shades of brown or gold. It is a picturesque time of the year.

It is amazing how nature does its own thing in different parts of the world, isn't it? Our first snow fall, is beautful too, when everything gets covered white, and the bare branches, when covered with wet snow is a picture that we would like to look at forever too, but it doesn't take long for the snow on the branches to melt and drip off, so it doesn't last long.

Fall is my favorite season. There is just something that takes over me when this time of year comes around. I don't like it getting cold and I wish we could only have snow at Christmas then I believe it should leave but as for Fall it can stay as long as it wants.
I love the smells and the beautiful colors although our tress haven't changes really that much yet. I really want to get out and get some pictures of the leaves and the trees but most of them are still fairly green which i am not quite sure why because the weather here is definitely getting colder and it has been raining here for 4 days straight. The summer here was terrible and I think we might of had three real summer days the rest where either raining or just a bit chilly for what summer should be...they are saying that this winter is suppose to be terrible like last years and I am not looking forward to it at all so I sure hope I can get some good fall pictures that way I can look at them all winter =)

Fall is the best season of the year! Watching the leaves changing their colors is such a great way to enjoy the season. I feel sorry for those that live in places where the seasons do not change. They are missing out on something wonderful.

I live in Australia, and while there are areas of Australia that have deciduous trees and autumn tonings, I live in central Queensland, where the seasons pass almost without change.
Our trees are mostly evergreen. Our poinciana trees are red all over when in bloom and our Jacarandas are purple all over in bloom, but we have no autumn colourings. There is little difference in our summer and winter temperatures, but the humidity in summer is very high, making the difference. Our summers are often browner than other months, because of the heat and lack of rain, while our winter weather is equal to summer in other countries.
I loved driving through the autumn-toned trees in Canberra some years ago and would love to see yours in New England. Enjoy them!

Your trees in Australia sound beautiful too...I would love to have the Poinciana tress and those Jacarandas in our neck of the woods. In the spring and summer, we have just green, and in late fall and winter, our trees, except for the evergreens, are bare with no leaves at all.

I would love to go to the New England states someday...I've seen so many beautiful pictures during the fall season and they are truly breathtaking. The leaves haven't changed here yet though, but in the past I love taking my camera and photograph all the colors of fall...my favorite season

fall are so right. that photo is just gorgeous. how really
pretty they are. I wish I had a way to travel there from way'up;here in California where the trees seldom change
colors. back in South Dakota when I was growing up the fall'was
gorgeous with all the trees changing colors too, just so
'beautiful. So we here in Ca sure do not get that lovely autumn
color like you have.

We are far enough North that we have fall colors but from what I've heard from other people no where near the color you get in New England. So enjoy for all of us. Blessings

I believe it happens here, because we have so many different type of trees all in the the same areas...therefore they all turn different, and blend in togther to create a beautiful site.
However, in the summer, what I enjoy is looking at other states that have the same trees for miles, and they all are the same beautiful lusious green together. Because we have different trees, and different greens, they are nicer to look at in the Fall when they turn, then in the summer. So it seems that every state, has it's own beauty at different times of the year.

Hi sweetchariot, did you ever see the film 'Baby boom' where Diane keaton upped stick to a house with an apple orchard, the scenery in that film I think is what you speak of.
Here its mainly olive trees as far as the eyes can see, which I think are beautiful especially in the breeze when the leaves often look silvery. But coming part way up the mountain today I noitced lots of new colours in bloom, whites and pinks, at the side of the road, from some trees which regularly change coulour each month. I usually assocaiate them with spring though.

I believe I saw that film, but don't quite remember that scene (actually, I don't remember yesterday..lol). We hear about the olive groves and olive trees here in the states, and I always wished I could visit there....it must be a very unusual site to look at, one that I would love to see.
Our Spring is nice to look at too, when the leaves start to bud on the trees, and the flowers in everyone's gardens start to bloom, but the leaves at that time only go from yellow to green and then we only see green until the fall comes. It is in the Fall, that the beauty comes forth- when they go from green to red, to orange, and then yellow. Once they are yellow, the leaves are actually hard and crunchy, and then when we have a couple of days of hard winds, they all fall to the ground, leaving our trees actually quite bare, with only branches. Our evergreen trees are the only trees that don't turn colors, and never loose it's leaves during the winters.
I've given you a picture of what our trees look like in the winter

I have seen the fall colors in New England when I was growing up they were beautiful. Now I live out west and the trees leaves change colors are also beautiful especially the ones in the mountains. The seasons do not last long enough the years just keep going by so fast it seem now that I am older.

...Hi Sweetchariot, I love the colors of the trees as they are changing colors, it is a part of nature that is so enjoyable. I have not been up in New England during that time, but on a smaller level, there is a very huge tree across the street from where I live and each year, it's leaves turn a golden beautiful yellow. It is such
a lovely sight, but in a few days the leaves are on the ground. I learned some time ago, to my surprise that the leaves are actually dying when they change colors, one of the ironic things in life I suppose :o). They are still lovely, even though they are leaving. Take care.

Trees around my house are almost green all over.I would like to see the extraordinary colors of fall as well. The fall will go to the end while it is even hot a bit here.I don't like the place where I live. The spring and autumn is so short here. When I want to enjoy the colors of the fall, all leaves disapear and I can just see some bold trees. Why my autumn leaves so soon. There seems to be just summer and winter.I am very sad about that.

Well, our spring and fall, do go fast too. Actually it seems that every season goes fast, except the winter, which is the worse season around here.
