Do you hate your job?

Hi mylotters! I heard so many people complaining about their jobs. They keep on telling their friends and family that if it is only not needed and if they have a choice they will surely quit their jobs. Do you find yourself in that same boat? Or do you feel the same about that, somehow and sometime in your life? In my personal opinion, I think rather than complaining we should think that God put us in that job for a reason. Maybe that job is our stepping stone and just a preparation for a better opportunity. We must just get something and learn from everything that we are doing. My first job? I hate it; I find it boring and felt that it was making me really sick. The repetitive assignments is really annoying me. Every morning I was like pulling my toes hard to report to my work. But soon I realize that it is not bad at all because I learned a lot from it. And now I am applying the things I learned from it even at home.

Hate is a strong word. I don't enjoy my job. When I was young, I had so many career dreams and none of them happened. I can't blame anyone but myself for this situation. My current job is just that, a job. It is a non-stimulating means to an end. I don't look forward to my workday, but I know I have to work or my family won't eat. I am thankful that I have employment.

It happens when we took the job that we don't like. I cannot blame anyone for that because really it is hard to look for a job, now a day. Just imagine the numbers of graduating students every year... and compare it against the available jobs being offered. How stressful!!! It's good that you have a job. Just an advice try to look for a job while you are still connected in your company, that is possible. I do that when I feel like I wanted to quit my job, I resigned once I am sure that I have a new job already.

Really time can tell. It's a new management so there will be new policies, new procedures to follow and new environment. You must be really good to be selected and re-hired. Enjoy your stay. And good luck to you.

I actually started a new job on Monday, for the same company! We went from a corporate company to a dealer owned store. Everyone was terminated on Monday, but I was hired back by the new owner the same day. It is like starting a new job, only I am still in the same position. I hope I have done the right thing by accepting her offer of employment. I may have missed my opportunity to go on Employment Insurance and get retrained for a better paying job. Time will tell.

I hate and love being able to manage our internet shop. I don't like it because it can get stressful when the computers are hit by virus and I need to reformat the hard drive. What I love about it is that I can leave and can't be late going there unlike before when I have a boss and a specific time to go to work.

It's good to be your own boss. Stressing yes! But fun because you know, at the end of the day the income is yours. You are not making other rich. You work hard for yourself. Good luck to your business. Don't be upset, its normal business has its up and down.

yah, i felt that way before my previous job. i work as an callcenter agent. and kept on telling my family and friends that im so tired already and i dont like my job anymore. however, i need money and i need job which is well compensated. but i was not able to to make it. i only stayed for one year and six months. but for me that was too long for that job. its hard to work in a particular job if you're not happy with it. and no regrets now that i resigned.

You really cannot force yourself to stay and love what you are doing if you don't really! Find job that really interest you. The good compensation package that we get from our job truly holds us from leaving but sooner or later we will be tired and eventually gave up on it. I am pretty sure that you will get the job that you would love. Good luck to your application.

the job i had now is the best job i ever had my whole lifetime... it may not be the best pay i got... but they pay me decent money just right for my job... and they pay on time... since my job isnt that hard, i still have time to do mylot, write articles, and make extra cash online.... I am pretty happy with how things are going.... and i intend to keep this job as long as reasons allow me to.

Well I believe you have a nice job either! Having time for yourself, a work which doesn't consumed all to your time is a very very good thing. The fix and steady income plus your extra income from online is still a lot. It is nice to have a job like yours.

hello lovelyn. i love my job because i am satisfied with it. if i am not happy with my job, i will just look for another job. sometimes, though you are being paid higher but you are not happy with your work or not improving, i will look for another that i will be satisfied.

Happiness is what matters. I also believe that it is not just the good compensation. You won't be able to perform you day to day work well if you are not happy with your job. Waking up in the morning will be very hard for you. Time is really slow and boring when you are at work if you dislike your job. Lucky you, you found the job that you like. Thank you for participating mafi0831! Welcome to mylot!

That also falls under poor working environment. I should say, don't mind them much. As long as you know what you are doing and your boss loves your work, that's it. Period. It is not them that paying you.

It's kind of like the old saying "You don't know what you've got, until it is gone." That is how a lot of people realized that they had really good jobs in the past, and some of them wish that they had that job back. But, then again, I have seen some people who really appreciate their jobs. I have been in that position before. I had a really good job, and I would constantly be telling people that I worked for a good company, and that I was glad that I worked for them. I no longer had that job, and sometimes wonder if there was anything that I could have done different. Then again, the company was downsizing, so there wasn't really anything that I could have done. It was just a matter of corporate issues I suppose. I was just working at a single store, so the decisions were well beyond my level of decision making.

Well then, you must learn to love your new job now. I believe you do have a purpose there. We are where we are for a reason.

Haha. Sorry, I didnt want to make you shameful at all. i was just pointing out that everything is relative and, though I have to deal with the nastiness of that place, overall the work isnt too strenuous. I actually am a plant operator so much of my job is technical, even though i do leave there everyday covered in filth :o). Just sharing my job with those who want to listen!

I actually like my job, and I'm glad I have it considering I'm the only one working right now. There are the usual complaints I have, like there are times I'd rather be at home, but those are the usual. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to work because I want to spend more time with my kids, but that's another usual.
• Philippines

Well that feeling usually come and go. Spending time with our kid is such a nice and wonderful thing to do but reality, we need to work for them. That's what motherly love is ---the willingness to sacrifice our own happiness. Thanks for sharing CRSunrise!

Not really. I know of people hating their job but so far, I am so thankful to be so happy in my job and to be earning from it. I think I am so used to this job that should I get a new one, I would surely not be able to get used to it. I love my present job and even though the working hours are irregular, I still love it the same.

Let me tell you something different. I am working in the government sector and have a really good paying job, getting more than what my friends are earning. And I am staying at my parents still now. I just want to complain that I don't get enough work here. Our office works are more or less based on administrative side and I belong to the technical fields. And so I am waiting for the time to get transferred to another busy working schedule. And of course i do love my work. I am grateful for getting my job so soon after finishing my study course. But like the wise saying goes" man are never satisfied with what they have". To tell the truth I am earning more than my mom and dad. after reading this thread, I feel we should be content with what we have.

We complain when we are assigned too much work and yet we complain also when there is no or less work for us. Sometimes we really don't have contentment. It's good that you are being compensated big by doing less work. Isn't that nice after all? Try to do something productive on your spare time. Keep yourself busy. There are so many things that you could find to do. Why not respond to mylot discussions? ;)

I don't hate my job. In fact, I really like it. I'm where I want to be. I feel sorry for people who have not yet found the right place for them. And even if I have to quit my job one day, I would not regret working there. I've learned a lot from the company and I'm sure I could use that knowledge for other jobs that I would do.

You have a very positive working attitude, I run my own company now and really enjoy my career. When I was younger I also worked happily in the company and always thought that I learnt from there, so I am quite happy to hear the same saying from others. Good luck and hope you have a happy life.

My last job that I had before I got laid off, was absolutely awful. I took that job only, as you mentioned, I had no choice since being laid off from the previous one also. I was so bored at this last one, that I could actually play solitaire almost all day. I couldn't figure out why they hired me in the first place, since it was never busy enough to do alot of work. And to make matters worse, I had to travel out of town to get there. Nothing is worse then hating your job, and then having to travel to get there. This next time around, I am looking for local jobs only...so at least if I am bored, I can come home for lunch.
• Philippines
10 Oct 09
Now I know why you were laid off... it is because they realized that it is such a not so good decision to hire somebody and do solitaire the whole day... I mean paying you for mastering the game solitaire??? Kidding aside, maybe there wasn't enough work for you. Maybe they just need additional manpower on some point of time. A project based employee or something. Try to choose your job wisely. Do not take the first job that hires you. Good luck to your job hunting Sweetchariot. Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate your opinion.

Hi lovelyn. Let me share you an experience. I had my very first job ever, that was six months ago if I am not mistaken. Of course, I was excited and anxious at the same time. This would not be avoided, however while I was staying on the next months, I finally got bored and hate to wake up just knowing that I would be doing the same routine over and over again. I never complained, ever. I am happy that I am even blessed because I have a job, not all people that I know can find a good paying job, or even some doesn't have a job at all. And you know what happened? I stayed there for only four months, submitted a resignation letter. Because I am not happy anymore. Yes, I am blessed but I don't want to be engaged into something that I don't like to do. I am not telling everyone to do this, but that is how I think. Right now, I am earning more than what my monthly salary is, by working at home. I have realized that there is more to life rather than being out there. I have clients, and am doing all the work. Right now, I am pretty satisfied with my life, and this applies that I love my job, right now.

hi lovelyn here in Ca if you have any kind of a job, for goodness sakes stay put,do not quit as there are no jobs out there now and thousands looking for those non existent jobs. If you do not like it, try to find a way to get to like it, perhaps it is a job that helps people so take pride you are doing something that will help other people and look for ways to get moved up. I never hated my job as a nurse's aide and I never disliked my job shelving books in a library. they both made me feel i was helping other people and that is so fulfilling.

Unconsciously, we do touch others life. By simply doing our everyday work, we were able help others, sometime we are not just aware of it but if we begin to look at our responsibilities deeply, we will understand and see the importance of what we are doing. Whether or not it is hard to find a job, we should look our job as a blessing. We are where we are, and we are doing what we are doing because there is purpose behind it. Hatley thank you so much for sharing!

I like my job - oh it has it's moments - but overall I find it very interesting. I also get to help people out when they are at their worst - it can be very gratifying and sometimes very frustrating. But it's never boring that is for certain.

The fact that you are able to help others is really worthwhile. I will never get tired and bored as well. Hearing others problems is stressful but that negative feeling turns into a great and incomparable feeling once you know that you have helped the person.
