I used to write a diary when I was in Singapore for my study.
It is because I am alone there,so writing a diary is a way for me to express my happiness and sadness.
I wrote a diary for a couple of years and I have 3 diaries books in my cabinets.
Now, I am no longer writing a diary. But I am writing a blog about my son and also my life.I like to jot down every single things that happened in my life and also it will be an online diary for me. In future, I hope my son can ready what I am writing about him when he grows up.
Share with me,do you have a habit to write a diary?
Do you write it everyday ??? Will you share your diary with your loved one ??
happy weekend

I kept this habit to write a diary in my hardest student life before i go to university. It's really a tough time for me with a lof of stess from my parents and my own.And thereby i seldom write diary. It seems that i'm the type to relax myself and pour out my feeling for diary, but maybe it's not true. More often,i consider updated diary as a way to enjoy my feeling in life, however,i'm a sensitive girl and can chage my mind frequently. There is too tired and bothering to jot down my tiny feeling changes.

hi chinali just an idea, you are sensitive and no your'feelings are not tiny to you, so try to just jot down anything you
feel you need to put on paper, only takes a moment. I know
'because I do this each day, I am elderly and it is a relief
to vent my feelings on paper, dear your feelings are never tiny
to you. venting here relieves stress believe me.

Hi Chinali,
I am agreed with what Harley's said.
Writing a diary is one of the way to for to release your stress and also make yourself feel better after writing them down.
A diary is just like your friend, it is always there for you and you just write everything that you have in mind,be it,sadness or happiness, just write them down and it will becomes a memories for you one day.

I write in a journal from time to time. I guess you could consider this like a diary. When I am frustrated and need to vent, but there is no one around to talk to I will write in a journal. This helps me to release my angers and go on with my life.
I also took a journal along with me on my last trip. At first I was really gung ho about writing the different experiences that I was having. But after a while, I was so thrilled about writing in it anymore. So, there were a lot of things that I missed.
I think it is a good idea that you are writing this blog that your son can someday go back and read. That is very exciting. I hope you are also able to post pictures to it. Something like a baby book, but more extensive and further along into his life. What a great idea!

Hi Kykidd,
Writing a journal is also like writing a diary.Whether you feel happy or sad,at least it is always there for your to write your story and you still able to read back your own story somewhere in future.
I still kept well my diary altghough I have not been writing for a few years.
I am more addicted to blogging now. Whenever I have bad or good news, I will jot it down at my blog.Posting a picture at blog is also good as when you look back someday, it makes you recall back what is happening at that point of time. Such a sweet memories.

Yeah I write in a journal. I usually write down ideas or thoughts that run through my head that I like or small poems or lyrics to a song or whatever else they could be called. I enjoy writing a lot and when I get a lot of it done it makes me feel like accomplished something plus I really like my own writings so it really makes me feel good about myself sometimes as well.

Hi Shia,
Glad to see another nice discussion from you again.
For me, I don't write dairy until I was 18 years old. I got a dairy from my elder sister as my 18 years old birthday present. From there I start to write my dairy. But I don't do for it everyday. In fact, it is dairy of a starting journey of my birthday celebration. I write about my birthday celebration every year in the dairy . So the dairy keep with me for a few years. I write the dairy a week before my birthday. I also write down what I have achieve through out the whole year. And I did write down my wish for the upcoming year.
Until I meet my hub and my life was busy and I have stop writing the dairy. But I have a blog now. I blog about my 2 kids. Because it is a public website, so I don't really go so serious about my own feeling in the blog.

Hi Shia,
Thanks again for you useful information. I will check it out soon. I do come across some others blog that they only open the blog for viewing for their invited readers. If happen I want to read their blog, what should I do?
So far I have only two blogger friends that own a private blog.
For writing dairy, I have seen some of the school have build up this good habit for the children. The teacher will ask the kids to have a diary book so they can jot down the dairy for themselves. But this diary is a kind of homework assign by the teacher and students need to pass up the dairy for teacher marking. Basically this is to help the student to improve the writing skills.
And they only need to write the dairy once in a week. They normally write what is happened in the school and write about their school life.

H Vingyan,
Same with me, I stopped writing my diary when I met my husband and we started our dating life and I was busy with my work.Out of sudden, I just don't have time to write my diary and it is just stop by itself.
But now I have a blog writing more about my sons and also my life and my family.
Actually you can always set your blog into private mode,it means not visible to public. But for me, I prefer to set it for public as I am just writing about my son and not something serious about my life.

Hi Vingyan,
I guess setting your blog as a private blog meant that you only have selected friend that able to view your blog.
I have some blogger friends that set their blog as private. They will actually add me into their private list, then only I can view their blog and everytime when I want to view their blog, I have to actually type in my user id and password first.
You can try to search for more info at blogger before set your blog as private blog.

Dear Shia,
I do not have this habit. However, in the year 1988, I
do write diary. That time I am having my 2nd year in
college doing my ACCA Accountancy. I wrote about my daily
life in college. About who I am with, about my lecturers,
exams, learning how to cook, anything that is sweet, sour,
bitter and whatever that came. I stopped writing when my
7th brother passed away in June 1988. It is so sad, I just
could not write anymore. That's it!
As time passes by, I am married and one day I discovered the
diary. I kept the 'sweet' pages and thrown the rest.
All the best and have a wonderful 'family day'

Hi Shia,
Diary writing is a good habit, I think. We can read the same in a later period and it must be really funny to read it. Your blog will be like a diary in future. I don’t have the habit of writing a diary. In fact I don’t have time to write the same. I used to write when I was a student. After marriage I got busy with kids, work etc.

Hi there Shia, it must have been pretty lonely for you when you were in Singapore for study. Which school were you enrolled in? I am from Singapore, and I can understand how lonely it can be, even though Singapore is a small country. 3 diaries is definitely a good number, considering you are alone. As for me, I used to have scribblings of wordings (not really a diary, but more like a rant drawing) and I would keep all these sketches in a secure place. In a way, it felt like a real diary to me, though I didn't really express any words. Nowadays, my personal blog is considered like my diary, but I always speak in riddles to express my innermost feelings. Have a great weekend to you too..

HI Zed,
I was at Singapore Institute of Management for my Banking & Finance course.
I was in Singapore for about ten years before I settled down in Malaysia now.
Glad to know you, another Singaporean at MyLot. It is my first time get to know a singaporean from MyLot.
Actually, I am not that lonely during my 10 years in Singapore.I did have Indonesian friends study together with me,but we stayed at different places.
So when I was back to my rented house, I was alone and to kill my time, writing a diary is one of the best solution.

I dont have the habit of writing diary, except those days when teachers forced us to keep a journal.
Even though I have two blogs now, I seldom write in first person. If I do use first person, I write about observation rather than daily activities.
I enjoy writing, just find it troublesome to keep track of daily activities. I rather post some outstanding quotations to remind myself to live a better and more meaningful life.

As for me, I have a hobby to write a blog. I just like to keep track on everything happened to my son and his development since baby, toddler, and till he grow up to be an adult.I also believe that a blog works like an online diary and Hope my son will treasure it one day on what I am writing about him.

I used to write a diary in my younger years. I wrote about 20 diaries and then one day I decided I prefer no one to ever find out the intimate details of my life and so I burnt them all. I don't have a blog as I don't see the need for it really... The web is populated with too many bloggers and blogging is not my cup of tea.

Hi Shia!
Well yes.. I write in my journal every once in awhile! Or whenever something memorable happens and I don't want to forget a thing! I find it helpful! Before I had my daughter, I would write in it almost everyday and now I write maybe once a month when I am lucky!
Its funny when I read pages from months or years before! To reminisce... Would I share my journal with my boyfriend... NO WAY! There is so much stuff in there that are about him and problems and feelings towards him, I wouldn't want him to know how was feeling on a certain day... Some things are better left private especially if you just need to vent!

I also like to read back my diaries on and off when I have a free time.
Sometimes, I can even laugh reading my own diaries because it was funnyy to recall back all those old memories that happned in my life.
However,it was my past and I will just keep all those memories in my diary.

Not really, I wish I had this habit but I cannot be a good diary writer is what I feel. I am good at Blogging though but it's about science notes and latest discoveries. I am thinking to start writing my diary though. I mean the book where you write about yourself helps a lot to see what bad and good aspects of your personality are there and how you can improve yourself.

Hi Ehsanji,
It means you have a blog now?
Actually you also can write anything about your life in a blog.It does not necessary you have to write it in a book.
Like for me, I am writing a blog now. and I enjoyed doing it.
You can always set as private blog,so it won't be visible for public.

Hey!
I used to write in a diary everyday when I was younger. I wish I would have kept the habit because now that I am older I love going through all my old diaries and reading what I wrote. It brings back so many good memories and reminds me of all the small things I forgot over time. I am glad to hear that you still keep a diary! Keep up the great work! I know that one day your children will love reading it!

well, when I was in high school, writing diary is my habit too. i wrote about my daily activity, my experience, my love story, and my secret. Today, I still write on my diary. however, it is rarely. It is because I have to do many assignment. I write on my diary if I really have spare time and just 3-5 sentences in a page.

Hi cutex,
writing a diary does not mean you have to always write in long sentences.Just a few sentences which described best about your feeeling and what is happening in your life is good enough.
It is just a good habit to jot down on special occasions happened in our life and when we have time to read back ..it is kinda of sweet memories in our life.

I used to have a diary when I was a kid. I would write in it all the time. Now that I'm an adult I don't write in one anymore. My days consist of pretty much the same things. lol So I probably wouldn't have much to say if I wrote in one now. When I was a kid I would keep it locked so nobody would read it. I have a brother that is 6 years younger than me so I never wanted him to read my stuff. There probably wasn't anything in it that was bad but I still kept it locked. lol

Hi Sweetgirl,
Diary is more about our privacy life and it is best to keep at the safer place to avoid being read by other people.
For me, I am okie to let my husband read my diary as we have no secret on each other.
Whatever I wrote in my diary was my past and we are always looking for future.

hi shia88 yes I journal everyday and write what is going on
in my life, my thoughts and feelings, and something about
the people here in Gold Crest . Since I am stuck for now in
this retirement center,I decided to vent my emotions, my
feelings, and my life here each day. It helps me to stay
focused and to retrieve my happy feelings I used to have.
also I do mylot a lot, but my journal is also something I
feel compelled to keep up daily. I may share this with
every one some day, but right now its just me and my journal.

HI Hatley,
You have a good hobby, writing a journal is one of the best activity for retirement.
At least, your mind keep working while you are writing and you can always remembered what is happening in your past by just flipping back to your journal.
For me,I am writing a blog now.I jotted down every moments I spent with my family especially my son.I do captured some pictures of him and write down a short note on those pictures.
Writing is a good activity and keep on writing everyday !!

I do not keep a diary. I do however save email correspondence between my self and friends and family and I have printed them. When I look back upon them it reminds me of what was going on a certain point of my life, it is kind of nice to do. My mom keeps a diary though she has been writing in her diaries since she was a little girl and I really hope she has kept them all somewhere. Of course when she passes we will be able to read the diaries or should I say her life story. I hope that does not happen for many, many, many years but I think her diaries will be a nice way to remember her.

You can alays spare some free time to start writing a diary again.
Diary is also your friend, you can always share whatever you want in your diary.

yes, I've started writing diary since I was in college, when I was young I'm not fond of writing a diary but since college up to now I can say that its part of my life and I couldn't live without writing about what happening in my life, it's a form of venting all my emotions, thoughts and some things I've learned in life which also can remind me in the future. Writing a journal is very important, for me not to also feel pre-occupied...I also have a personal blog which also serves as my journal. But lately I've been missing writing on my journal because of some busy schedule...but from time to time I make sure I would catch up and find time to write.

Writing a blog is a very good activity. I do have a blog too,I started my blog about 2 years ago.
Times flies so fast, I can't imagine that I have been blogging for 2 years now.
I write alot of things in my blog : about my son,my own life,my family, and sometimes I do share about my cooking.
