How does the airline set up the ticket price?

I was a little confused on today's discussion with my co - workers. She recently went to Croatia for 3 weeks vacation, and the ticket price was $1425. While another co - worker went to China 2 months ago, the price was merely $670. In distance comparison. Europe certainly shorter than Asia if start from the U.S.A. Whether it is base on how many people gonna go to that 2 places? Or how frequent the flights to both places? Anyone know the answer?

They base on tax and surveys that they constantly have everyday. They have records of how many people travel everyday. Its cheaper if you book it early because not alot people are booking it during that time and expensive if you buy on the last minute.

I agree with you too. I had that sort of experience too. When I was take the last minute flight, the price was sky high.

yes, so whenever you are planning to book a flight. book it as earlier as possible. Also check for prices because it varies everyday depending if during that day or season alot of people are going to that destination. The airlines knows when is the peak season especially if there is a certain event or holiday in a place that people flock to.

That is a nice question. You know traveling from Ecuador to Colombia(neighbor country), cost more or less the same than traveling to Miami. I guess they set up the price depending on how many people go to that place. In your example, Croatia isnt too visited as China is. So traveling to China would be cheaper than traveling to Croatia. Though its only my guess.

tax can also a factor of cheap flights but they also promos because they have a quota to how much should be sold during that season so if not alot of people are travel during that time, they sell this no of seats for this day. They also have promos just to meet the quota. Another thing, it becomes cheaper if a certain place is on demand at all and they either make constant change in price with the ticket fare or discontinue there service to go there to save time and money. I use to work for UAL as a reservations agent and its part of the discussion of our training.

Wow, nice to know. I don't know much fact of this pricing scheme. Well, I guess that we have to pick the right place, right time, and promotion period of time to travel is the best. Hopefully, we can get cheaper deal in the future.

There is never a fixed price for airline ticket. The ticket price always changes according to the demand. When there is a higher demand, the price will increase & also when the seats are about to fill, the price will be maximum. This is how the industry operates & makes profit. If the give tickets at a fixed price, the industry will go in loss. Happy Lotting
