What is SMPS and CMOS??

Hello everyone..Is there anyone who will tell me something about SMPS, and CMOS...How they works together to Get the computer ON. From few days, My computer have some booting problems till now. Someone told me that this is probably because of a CMOS battery getting drained..Again he suggest me to change the SMPS of my computer.. ' Press F1 to continue' is the message at start up.. Any idea !!!!
