Let me start with a little background. First off, I go to weight watchers and have lost almost 50 pounds since February. I work with developmentally disabled adults.
Well on Friday afternoon, I loaded up the van and took a load of guys to the SPCA. Our guys sort and fold newspapers in a specific way for the kennels. We also pick up newspapers that people leave. We got to the SPCA and a few of the guys got out of the van to help carry the papers from the parking area. They then carry more papers to the van. When they get done, I check the containers for more papers. Some of the containers contain trash or food so I don't let the guys do this.
As I was leaving, I noticed my ring was gone, panic set in. The guys went swimming that morning, so the ring could have been lost there, or it could have been on site, in the parking lot or at the house. I broke out in a sweat (as if the hot flashes aren't enough). I wasn't sure how I was going to tell my husband what happened.
I immediately turned the van around and checked the parking lot and containers, knowing I only had about a 1 minute window since boredom can lead to behaviors. I quickly looked at the ground and did not see it, ran to the bins and in the 2nd place I looked I found it.. I breathe a sigh of relief.
I got home and told my husband what happened. He has lost almost 70 pounds and he told me a similar thing happened to him but he thought he lost the ring in some surgical gloves when he removed them (he is an ER tech). He later found the ring on the bedroom floor. It fell off while he was sleeping.
Has anything like this ever happened to you? What is the most valuable thing (either in cost or sentimental value) that you have lost or misplaced?

This hasn't happened to me yet, but I fear that it will soon if I don't get my rings resized. I had my rings sized seven-and-a-half years ago and I was pregnant at the time and didn't know it so I was swollen. In addition to that, I've also lost a lot of weight in the past year. Right now, if I shake my hand, my ring will start to come off. When I am typing, they will try to spin around my fingers. The problem is, when I am not wearing them I feel very, very naked so I can't at this point bear to part with them for a couple of days so they can be resized.

We have tungsten rings and they can't be resized. I have lost almost 50 pounds so that is the problem.
My husband bought me a necklace to wear the ring. But I had to put on a ring because it felt so weird without it.
Be careful you don't lose it. I have lost things that cost more but those few minutes really made me panic.

hi debs place well mine was not really expensive except that right now for me to have to replace it might make a hardship
I went to check the time in the middle of the night last night and my watch was gone. so I turned on the light to look for it and o f course my roommate started grumbling. so I turned off the light and tried to find it with my little flashlight, could not find it so tried to go back to sleep. got up and checked under the bed again, then something told me to look further down under my bed and voila there it was. I must have dropped it in the middle of the night then probably kicked it with my foot and it landed just in a place where I had not thought to look . so I did not have to go out and buy a new wristwatch after all. big relief.
