Annoying Gym

The gyms in our area are very expensive - I'm talking $80 a month. Definitely can't afford that right now. Well a new gym about 7 miles from here opened up about a month ago and is only charging $30 a month! I was so excited and wanted to join. It's a 24 hour fitness place, so noone actually works there. You have to call to make your appointment to join. So after going as a visitor with a friend, I decided I definitely wanted to join. I called this place for a week straight and they did not return my phone calls! Once I finally got ahold of them, I made an appointment to join this afternoon and would you believe the owner did not show up for my appointment!? I was so stinkin annoyed that I wasted the time and gas. I have no intentions of joining this gym now. I shouldn't have to work THAT hard just to get a gym membership. It's a new business, they should be doing whatever they can to get members and well they did nothing but drive me away! I can't believe it. Have you ever experienced anything like this?! Do you blame me for not wanting to give them my money?? My husband said to spend the money on some new workout dvds and just work out at home! It'll save me the gas money too!

I agree with your husband. You can get a lot more for your money if you invest in a home gym. You don't need all of the expensive equipment. All you need is a few different videos. If you really want to splurge, then get yourself a treadmill or something. But you really don't need it. Just get a couple of DVDs and a few handweights. It sounds like that gym isn't going to be in business for a very long time. If they are like that when someone actually wants to give them money, imagine how they will be if a piece of their equipment happens to break down. You know, a while back I tried to join our new local 24 hour gym. I sent somewhere around 10 emails, and never received a response. I went out and bought some weights and DVDs that I use here at home. And my school has opened a new fitness center that is free for the students to use. On the days I have class, I go there instead of working out at home.

I really wish we had the space for a piece of equipment right now! I'd love to buy an elliptical. One of these days though. For now videos and handweights will do! :-)

Oh my gosh! What horrible customer service! I would definitely NOT give them ANY money (not a penny!) nor the time of day (ever again) after such an incident. They deserve losing a customer if their customer service (and the owner THEMSELVES) is this bad. Goodness.

Hello friend, I think your husband was damb right. Definitely right. I think you just have to buy dvd on whatever program you would like and bingo...you can save a lot..time, gas and money...it doesn't make any difference between the gym and your dvd program at home...what matter most would be your focusing on that program. If you're determine to achieve what you wanted then you would got it....thanks and good luck...

You`d think they`d all over you. Search for a crossfit gym in your local area. I`m sure, they are cheaper and much much better. And they have some good workouts too.
