Have you ever heard a song or looked up the lyrics and been impressed with how well they flowed?
I recently was listening to a hardcore/metal-ish band called Bring Me the Horizon's song "pray for plagues." I looked up the lyrics and was pretty impressed with how clever they were:
"Eradicate, this disease/Close your eyes, Pray for plagues, Oh Lord cleanse this earth, And bring upon our doomsday" and "So clap your hands to the sound, Of every first born dying now, Watch the rivers flow with blood, Death will stand where life once stood."
I know that may seem a little harsh, especially to those of you that are religeous. But I thought the messgae the song portrayed- that humanity/the world is getting uglier by the minute- was told so well, and cool. xD

I just read full lyrics of pray for plagues (haven't heard the song btw). Doesn't seem clever or even special. Sounds like a bad version of something I've heard elsewhere.

Most poignant lyrics that reminded me of my circumstance at one time when i was clueless was eagles Desperado' desperado, why dont you come to your senses, you ve been out mending fences for so long now'((start living for urself n not other people's problems) chorus'dont draw the queen of diamonds boy,she ll beat u cos she is able, the queen of hearts is always your best bet.(money is priority u ll lost out, love or relationships affairs of d heart ,you ll be better off.
its how we interpret the lyrics, different people have difrent interpretations and thats precisely what good lyrics are about, they speak to you depending on what your circumsatnces are!

Lyrics can be cool, remember in my younger days when psychedelia was all the rage, not that i m encouraging substance use or anything but the beatles song Lucy in the sky with diamonds relly got my imagination going,John Lennon tried to put people off track by saying song was inspired by a remark a little girl made but i seriously dont think so coz its so obvious he was describing a LSD trip high on the influence, come on 'picture yourself on a boat in a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies, somebody calls u u answer quite slowly,a girl with kaleidoscope eyes'it may very well have been inspired by a little girls drawing but Beatles pick it up from there.

I always pay attention the lyrics of songs because I like to analyze the lyrics. If the lyrics are too simple then I don't usually like the song. At this point in my life the song that speaks to me the most is Vonda Shepard's "Finally Home." "In my heart I still carry my dreams/But for right now, this is heaven to me." It reminds me that just because I'm not where I always wanted to be and living my dreams, I can still be happy and enjoy life.

I know this song - by Mercy Me - it is Christian genre:
Surrounded by your glory; what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus, or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine. Yeah, I can only imagine.
It always gives me chills.

I haven't heard of the song, neither am I a fan of hardcore and metal bands (for most are just noise and such) and not looking at the harshness of the words but the degree of how thought-of the lyrics were, indeed this is the huge difference of songs these days as compared to the yesteryears. If you take a look at the composition of the melodies and lyrics of older songs, you'd see that most are really artistically intertwined and mixed with the melody. There would be rhymes and a story to tell. Unlike now when most of the songs repeat the lyrics or words several times in order to make the song longer. It's really weird these days, you could only find a few who really are lyricists, and singers alike. Singers now depend too much on gadgets and recording studios to make their voices better. Ey, they couldn't even reach the height or the note when they're singing live! as compared to olden-day singers who sound the same in live and in the recording.
Whew!

I haven't heard the song. I don't really listen to that music, but the lyrics are meaningful and I agree that they are sending out an important message to people, and maybe it will encourage people to be kinder
