Bad experience with pre-made patties ( not for a weak stomach )

A few nights ago while I was working on the farm mother called and asked what we should have for supper. While discussing we decided to have home made burgers and fries. Mother had to run to the store anyway so she said she'd pick up a package of pre-made patties since we didn't have any ground beef defrosted. When we came home she had just started making supper so we were quite excited and extremely hungry. It had been awhile since we had a good burger and I was actually looking forward to it. So we're all at the table, there was myself, my husband, mother, and my two boys and we're getting our plates ready putting mayo on the buns etc.. well I have a rule in my house that the children eat first. That's how it's always been. The burgers looked to be completely done nice and browned and everything. So while I was preparing my bun my youngest boy set his burger down after taking a bite, and started to tell me about something that happened at school. I looked over and noticed his pattie was still a little bit pink on the inside. It was just a little bit so I said "wait a minute let me go put this in the microwave to finish cooking." I came back to the table and my husband grabbed a pattie to put on his bun but first he wanted to break it in half and make sure it was fully cooked (we like our meat well done) so he started to break it in half, got about a quarter of the way down and blood went squirting clear across the table as if it were all up in a little ball of pressure waiting to explode. I needless to say quickly lost my appetite and got up took that particular pattie and threw it in the garbage. I have never in my life seen a burger do that. I mean I've seen blood when you push down on a burger with the spatula while cooking, it kind of oozes out but never squirts like that. So anyway I put the rest of the patties back in the pan and finished cooking them, and I didn't insist my boys eat their burgers either after they were cooked but my oldest and my husband were fine with it, mothers was fully cooked to begin with so she ate hers. My youngest however was on the same side as I was thinking **um NO!** So I put my fries on my bun with some onions, lettuce, and tomato and it was really good. Needless to say I don't think I'll be eating burgers anytime soon because I can't get that image out of my head. Have you ever had an experience like this?

Naw, things like that just don't bother me. I would have just gone and finished cooking it, end of story. If it were moving, that's different, I'm outta there...

Hi, olydove! No, i can't say that i have ever had an experience such as this, and thank goodness for that. I may have gotten very ill at the site of something such as you have described. I like for all of my meat to be well done, no pink. When my husband and i go out to eat, he likes to order his meat medium rare, and most of the time i can't hold a conversation with him because of his food. I can imagine what a disgusting site that was at your home. Hopefully the memory will fade for you very soon.

Really that happened with Steak? yuk! I know I didn't want to eat at first but after about ten minutes hunger got the best of me so I decided the fries and lettuce and stuff would make an excellent sandwich. Although there was one time I didn't eat spaghetti for about two years. Hmmm maybe a new discussion coming soon LOL
