I think the hottest news at my country are the following:
1. Tomorrow national soccer team is gonna play with Chile, as its their last chance to classify to the World Cup at South Africa.
2. Strikes from natives are giving some problems to the president and the government, they are reclaiming their rights because of a problem with mining and petroleum at their territories.
3. Strikes from the Teacher´s associations(as well they are giving some problems to the president and the government), they are reclaiming for some tests the teachers had to do. The tests were made by the government and if teachers failed they were gonna be fired. Well its not that easy to explain this its more complicated of what it seems
4. President´s brother(which have being discovered of having contracts with the state, thing that is not allowed in here) is acussing the closest ministers of being corrupted.
5. Crime rates are increasing. Government´s oposition are reclaiming its their fault becuase they have created pro-delinquency laws(which is true if you have been stolen less than $650 its not considered a crime). The three main cities are being supported by the militaries to stop crime.
I think that are all the latest news.

Well its not consider a crime its just a contravention(dont really know if its the word; infringement could also be). Although it really doesnt matter, since the judicial system is really sucky in here, too many thiefs are left free on streets, becuase they let them go even if they have capture the thiefs like 5 times(and yeah there are many cases like that, and still they are getting out) Its becoming a really big problem this crime thing.
Thnx for the wishes, though i know its almost imposible(we are playing with chile in chile), and we(being realistic) dont have too many chances of winning.

i hope your government could do something or rather people could do something to make the government do something! we don't want the future generation to live in an environment like the current one.
and for the world cup, as the saying goes, the ball is round -- you'll never know when you'll be at the top!

wish you luck at the World Cup! how come stealing $650 is not considered a crime? it's still stealing and it's a crime, right? maybe government should review the laws or something...

that is a sad news, government people should have been the one people could look up to and should generally be conscious and aware of his actions. what could he be thinking? how did the people take it, what's the general reaction? is it a big deal in your country?

well that's true they were voted for their ability, but still...i thought there's some code of conduct or something. just like when a lawyer break their code of professional responsibility they'll be disbarred :D

In my country, Chile, the hottest news now are political as this is our current President´s last year in office.
I can proudly say that this is our first woman President and that , according to polls, no other president here has been so popular and respected by all.

it's good to know more about other country. sorry if i have to ask you this: who's your president as of the moment? i wonder if she can still run for the presidency and if she's willing? our current president is the 2nd woman president in our country. it's good to know yours is respected; ours is kind of not really loved nor respected by the people.

I believe we are from the same country... That was hit of typhoon where lives and homes were destroyed. I really feel sorry for those victims. It really happened in a sudden. Everyone wasn't expecting that. It also happened in the province where I studied college about 5 years ago. The house is already floating into the river and their are still people inside the house. Since our school was just also beside that same river our classes was canceled because the walls are already wreaked. I really don't know what happened to those people inside the house floating. It just flash back on my mind the time I saw the news from the television that many houses were floating in the river.

yes I do notice that... it is because those affected area of the typhoon were not the vegetable producing areas. I heard that Baguio City is one of the biggest vegetable producer in our Country and so as Davao City, Cotabato City and more. they were not much affected by the typhoon. So despite all that we should still be thankful that not all of the lives stock were destroyed. At least there are some productive place in our country who could lend a hand to those who were much affected by the typhoon..as the saying goes "everything works together for good".

as far as i know, baguio is the largest supplier of vegetables in manila. so i think manila is by far experiencing shortage of vegetable supply, and then next will be shortage of rice, i just hope we'll be ready by the time came... by the way jndlponti, where are you from?

we can only pray for those people who were on that floating house and others that have been victimized by pepeng. time can only tell when those provinces in the north will be able to stand up again. crops have been destroyed and i think we -here at the city- can feel the aftereffects. have you noticed that vegetable prices are not getting any lower?
