I received an email from yahoo stating that I must reply to them with my
UserName,Password,Date of Birth:Country Or Terriitory, Alternative Email And Password. Has anyone else received this? I am scared to respond. With all the identity thefts and other crimes online, I want to make sure I am not playing into a scam. How would I go about finding this out? Maybe I'll try to contact Yahoo. Let me know if you receive any information on this. Thanks friends. Happy Posting! dl

I think that is a scam, it does not sound right!
There has been a lot of security breaches with free online email accounts recently, Hotmail in particular. I do not use Yahoo as I find Gmail to be far better and much more secure!

I think you are correct in that my friend! I reported it to yahoo. I have yet to receive a response. I did my part and thankfully you guys have helped me before I make the biggest mistake. It was the fact that they asked for my password that got me thinking. I figured there are enough people on myLot who use yahoo. If they havent received it, it must be a scam. thanks for your help. dl

Good heavens no!! Yahoo would never ask for this information unless you are in the sign up page. Never give your information to anyone in your email. This sounds like a scam to me. You can forward the message they sent you to Yahoo, without the information to let them no that someone is trying to scam you. When you hit the forward button in the (to) line put customer support at yahoo, they will take it from there good luck.

That is surely a scan. I have received that
email several times already. I don't think there
is a need for Yahoo to ask for your personal details
since they already have the details from you which
were required at the time you registered your account.
Ignore such emails.

This is a scam. Recently Hotmail users received such emails and later the emails were hacked and leaked into the Internet. Microsoft said that about 10,000 emails were hacked. They said that similar methods were used to get details. Never reply to these emails. Yahoo or any other email service providers would never ask your details as they already have them. Stay safe.

Thanks for the information! I was unaware of that. I did hear from another myLotter that they had been hacked. Kind of scary if you think about it. I did notify yahoo and am awaiting a response. I've erased the email and the next time I get it I am going to send a copy to yahoo. thanks for your information. I am glad I asked for help. dl

Sounds like a scam to me. Don't respond. Send an email to Yahoo help letting them know about the email you received. They will tell you if it is legit, and if it is not, they can warn other users.

I've not receive such emails. If possible, change your passwords every week or every few days, if you can. So that you won't receive such spam emails. I think it's either a scam or a spam. I don't think Yahoo would ever seek personal information through email like that. Luckily you didn't respond..

That is really scary. It is quite obvious that it is a phishing mail since it is asking for personal information including your password and other details.I think you should report this to Yahoo since many others are likely to fall into this trap if they do not send out an alert soon.I had twice received such an email from Paypal but sent it to the spam folder and reported the issue to them too.Happy posting.

This is clearly scam. Yahoo will not ask your private information. If you do not have important information, you can reply to this email and see what will happent. I always receive the scam and trash mail. Just ignore them and remove them from your inbox.

It's a scam. Remember, neither Yahoo nor any other website will ask for your password, ever. This is because they can change things about your account if they really need to anyway, and so they'll never need your password. Another way to tel is by checking the spelling and grammar of the e-mail - typos are very, very rare in official e-mail. It was a smart idea to make sure before responding, and if you want to spare others who might be fooled you should report this to Yahoo ASAP.

Yahoo may not be doing that. You must contact Yahoo customer service to find what is really going on. Sounds like scam. I would ignore it anyway!

...Hi dloveli, I have seen another posting, which talked about an email from yahoo, which everyone said was a scam. I would say, never reveal your password to anyone, not even the original issuer. The have your record, your password is supposed to be your protection. Report it to yahoo, someone is trying to play a game. Report it and ignore it, take care.
