I know how to play a little of the guitar, piano and organ. I can't play any wind instruments because I am not really good at controlling my breathes. I'd like to learn to play violin but there aren't good teachers in my area. what instruments do you play and would like to learn? Why?

we have plenty of instruments around our house because my brother is a singer and musician. my father knows how to play them as well and my mother knows how to sing. sadly though, i never knew how to play any of these instruments (im not even a singer at all). though i've always dreamed of becoming a musician, i don't really think i have any fiber related to that in my body. i have always wanted to play the drums and tried learning them once but i got so busy with school that i couldn't really concentrate on it. i really prefered drums because it is rare that i see girls playing it. i also would like to know how to play the violin but we don't have one and I have no plans of spending money to learn it somewhere else..too bad but i think i'll remain ignorant of playing such instruments for the rest of my life :( i have friends who learned playing instruments even if they don't personally own that instrument and i envy them so much. i have plenty of instruments around me but i just cant (and maybe wont) want to learn seriously.. :(

Well, as they say 'winners always find a way to win' You have the instruments and the people there beside you to teach you, now it's you who need to really find the motivation to learn.

I also want to play piano or guitar right now I'm planning to learn to play guitar I know it is been too late for me to learn but I want to try my luck. My parents don't know how to play instruments and when I'm still young no one encourage me to learn how to play any kind of instruments. Piano lesson is very expensive here unlike in other country piano lesson is included in their curriculum.

Yes very true. without passion for learning or at least the perseverance to continue, I would surely not succeed on learning any instrument.. it is really a shame because i have most of the instruments around me but still i don't know how to play any of them.. there are a lot more people out there who deserve to have those instruments and could make use of them more than me..

I recently bought a dulcimer, so I'm going to start learning how to play the dulcimer. I've never learned how to play an instrument before (except the recorder in the first grade), but I also want to learn how to play the guitar some day.

dulcimer is a fretted string instrument with three or four strings this instrument come from scotland or ireland, to play this instrument we lay it flat on the lap and pluck or strum the strings with one hand, like when we use electric bass with our thumb.

Hi Laydee, I know how to play the guitar. My husband taught me how to play it. I love it when we play the guitar and sing together. Sweet and romantic. I want to learn how to play the saxophone. Appealing and sexy.

I was very good on the flute and piccolo in school and enjoyed them. I play a little guitar. Once I was pretty good with the piano, but it's been thirty years since I played. My hubby found me a free one. I am trying to re-learn the piano, but it's going a lot slower than I thought it would. I enjoy it though. My favorite instrument is my voice; I use it to lead worship at church, and occasionally sing for benefits and such. I love to sing - it is my main source of worship to God, and just always makes me feel better to sing. My grandchildren like it too.

I love musical instruments. The only problem is I'm not very good at playing thme. In a 3rd grade music class, they tried to make all of us learn to play the violin. I was atrocious at at it! I couldn't wait for that class to be over. Playing the piano would be a beautiful thing to achieve but I don't know one key from another. I would like to learn to play the guitar though. Any advice on self teaching or getting lessons?

Oh there are a lot of free online things about the guitar, my brother learns them through here. But he did do some lessons first because the basics is the most difficult and the most important first.

I want tto learn how to play the cello. when I was younger, I wanted to learn how to play the violin, but now, I like the cello better.

tinwhistles/penny whistles/Irish flutes - my collection of tinwhistles
I learned to play the piano as a little girl. Then I learned to play the guitar when my husband taught me more than a decade ago. The instrument I play the most these days though is the tinwhistle (other names: penny whistle or Irish flute) which I started learning by myself a few years ago because I am such a big fan of the Corrs. I have about twenty different whistles in various brands and colors (see photo). I also bought a violin which I practice on (again, because of the Corrs' influence) but I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. A friend of mine though, learned playing the violin just by watching the Corrs' videos over and over. He plays beautifully now and people are always surprised to learn that he never had any formal lessons. Just shows how dedication and passion can make you really reach for what you want:)

I started out learning how to play the guitar when I was about 8 years old, but eventually gave it up, and by about 14, I learned how to play the drums. I even had a set of bongo drums at the time, if I remember correctly. Since then and up until now, I've taught myself how to play the midi keyboard, and find this to be my best creative outlet. What I'd really like to learn how to play, is the Sitar. I've always been fascinated by this instrument...not just for its sound, but for the fact that's probably not the easiest instrument in the world to master. I too do not have the "wind-power" for wind or reed instruments. I smoke too much. Truthfully I love my keyboard, and wouldn't trade it for the world. cdrxo

Hi Laydee, It has been a long time I never play my flute (picollo). I learnt to play a picollo when I was in my junior high school.I joined the drumband and I am one of the fluter. I was a fluter for 5 years and I really enjoy playing my flute. Now, my flute is passed to my cousin and I hope I will have chance to play my flute again one day. I always like to learn how to play a piano and violin. It is too old for me to learn piano as my fingers are getting hard. But for violin, It is never too late for me to learn.

I've played the piano for about 2 years. The trumpet, hm let's see, since 4th grade. I've also taken 6 years of vocal lessons. I've been dying to learn how to play the acoustic guitar but the only guitar I have in the house is my bro's left-handed guitar. (I'm right-handed) I'd also like to take up learning the violin at one point or another. The guitar because it would be great to just play some easy listening-type music after a stressful day of studies. And the violin because although Jazz, Rock, and Instrumental are all some of my favorite genres, Classical composers have written some of the most complex and beautiful music of all time.

I don't play any instrument but I really wanna learn to play guitar, I love it so much. Since child I dreamed of becoming a famous singer who played guitar on stage. But sad to say I don't have the luck of realizing that dream. All my brothers can play the guitar well they are all good in it.

hi laydee I can only play two instruments, the piano and the drums, but I would love to learn to play the guitar and possibly the flute or saxophone. I want to learn one of those because I just love the way they each sound. I also sing, however I'm not very good at singing if I play the drums at the same time its hard to hear myself. I'm getting better at singing and playing piano. Its alot harder than people think it is.

I play the piano. You can't really go wrong if you know how to play this instrument. Here's why. Anywhere there is a piano or keyboard, you're good to go. You don't have to drag your instrument around with you. You just sit down and let it rip.

Drum would be my best selection. It feels cool to see a drummer. I have seen many bands and it makes me feel excited with the drummer playing. Although the drummer always hides behind the stage but, it rocks the most with the drum sound.
