Dear MyLotters, I am using machine to wash my daily clothes. Sometimes I do hand wash for my soft fabric clothes as I am worried that the washing machine will spoilt my clothes. I wash my clothes every evening and hang them dry at night. When I was at my hometown, we hired a maid to wash our clothes. She is also hand wash all our clothes, but since I went to Singapore for further study,my landlord was doing laundry for me. Only when I moved out and stay by myself, I learn to clean my own laundry and that was also the first time I am using washing machine to wash my clothes. Do you hand wash or machine wash for your clothes? Do you wash your clothes everyday? Happy MyLotting !

I hand wash my clothes every weekend. I really don't have that many, cause I wear a uniform when I go to work, so that's really not much, and when I'm at home I repeat my clothes, cause I just really sleep in them. Also another reason I hand wash my clothes is that my uniform is really not that good in quality so if I put it in the washing machine, it may come out like it's already a rag or something. LOL.

Hi Ingkingderders, So you are not washing your uniform everyday? For me, I have to change my clothes everyday, even a pyjama, I also change it everyday. I have 3 persons in my family and washing clothes everyday is good,or else, it will be a big full basket if I were to wash it 2-3 times/week. Somemore, I just can't stand with the smelly clothes. Most of the time, after I reach home from any outing, I will dump the cloth into the laundry basket and get it wash the next day.

Nope. I have 5 pairs of blouse and skirt, so I could do a full week without washing them, I only wash them on weekends. with my house clothes though, I only change them like twice a week, or when I use it for the whole day, or when I cleaned the house that day or something, but if I just wear to sleep, that I'd still probably wear it the next day. hahaha.

Hi Ingkingderders, Oh...having 5 pieces of blouses and skirts is enough for the whole week to change. So it means you only work for 5 days in a week? What job are you doing currently? When I was in SIngapore lasttime, I did wash my clothes once a week(when I stayed on my own) and it was damn alot, until no space to hang dry the clothes. So at last, I limit down to 3 times per week,at least, I spend lesser time to hang dry my clothes. But now, I am married with kid and I have to wash my clothes everyday.I have to keep everything clean in my house included our clothes.

Hi shia, I used a fully automated washing machine for my family clothes. Lately my machine broke down.So I went shopping for a new fully automated one. But it was so so expensive costing more than RM 3000 This leads me to hand wash my clothes. I need to save for a new machine.

Hi James, Which brand of washing machine are you looking for? How come it cost so much? I believe you are getting the very good quality washing machine,if not,it won't cost that much, right? As for me, I am using Panasonic washing machine,if not mistaken is 7kgs type. So far,it only break down once as there are many tiny threads and some coins hidden inside the machine. So I got the technician to come and repair and it costs me only Rm30 for the repair cost. I bought this washing machine for about Rm850,that was almost 5 years ago.

Hi James, I never heard of Whirpool brand before,Sorry maybe I am bit out-dated in electronic items. Panasonic is a very famous brand too, some more it costs cheaper and worthy to buy one for your household usage. It is troublesome to hand wash your clothes, need to spent more time. For me, I will always get backache if I were to wash my own clothes for long time. Hand also feel tired.Getting washing machine is the best solution for me,I just dump everything in and let the machine works for me.

We bought Whirlpool in 1992. It cost more than RM 1400.00 then. The body got rusted but the motor is still good. I like Whirlpool but it is very pricey. Yes, I may go for Panasonic as it is cheaper.

Hi Shia, I do machine wash most of the time. I just separate those cloths which may be damaged on machine wash and do the hand-wash once in a week or whenever I get time within a week. I do the machine wash everyday. I have small kids so there will be enough cloths to wash on everyday basis. It is good to hand wash the cloths for in the long run, but time is less with me for sparing hand wash, so I depend on machine wash.

Hi, Having a small kids at home, we need to wash our clothes in daily basis. It same goes to me, I wash all my clothes everyday and there is no point to compile the clothes for few days as it is going to be alot and it takes longer time for me to wash them and also fold them when they are dry.

I machine wash and machine dry my clothes about once a week. I rarely hand wash anything unless really necessary. I also machine wash and machine dry my bed sheets and comforters. Machine washing and drying eventually wears out your clothes as evidenced by all the lint in the lint collector in the dryer, that is parts of your clothes wearing off. Most people in North America machine wash and machine dry their clothes and bedding, with the exception that some people hang their clothes out on the line to dry.

Hi Mariposaman, You are so lucky that you even have drying machine at home to dry up your clothes. For me, I always hung up my clothes at night after finished washing them. Then the next morning, the sunlight will help to dry up my clothes. Hope nextime there will have an advanced technolog where there is a machine can hel to fold our clothes. Then our life will be getting easier.

hello shia, I was so happy yesterday afternoon when the sun was shining and it gave me the opportunity to wash my clothes by hand. and it's nice because it didn't rain at all but i am hoping they will dry tomorrow because another typhoon is coming and i hope that they just slip by and not hit my country. otherwise, the victims of two typhoons will never recover.

Hi, I also like to have a sunshine in the morning, at least all my clothes can get dry for the whole morning. Since I am using washing machine to wash my clothes,so normally it takes at least 5 hours to get my laundry really dry in the morning. I always dried up my clothes at night time and leave them outside overnight, the next morning, then I will push the cart out to dry up all my clothes.

We also hand wash our clothes because we want to save electricity and the clothes are more cleaner than to wash it in washing machine. We do our laundry 3 times a week my mother and I helping each other to wash the clothes. My youngest sister is assign to do the laundry by weekend.

At least, we get a washing machine and it has safer alot of works for me.

I use the washing machine to do all my laundry. You are correct that we really have to segregate clothes depending on colour, fabric and so many things that many times it becomes risky to wash clothes in the machine. My mom still depends on the maid to do the laundry but maids are becoming so expensive these days.

HI, Using the washing machine is definitely save our time and the most important the clothes are clean and get dry faster. My parents also using maid to hand wash all the clothes, only those clothes from soft material, my mother will hand wash themselves.I do agree with you, employing a maid is not cheap nowadays but at least ,it save our time and energy that someone is cleaning the house everyday.

Hi shia, I use washing machine to do the daily laundry. I would be handicapped if without this essential appliance to carry out the daily chore. The machine is really great! It saves me lots of time as well as trouble doing the same tedious routine daily Yeah, I have been depending on the washing machine since I gave birth to my first kid. After dumping all the laundry into the machine, I add the appropriate amount of washing powder onto it and then push the switch. I wash the clothes every day. I usually do the laundry in the evening. That is after all the members of the family have taken their shower before dinner. While waiting for the laundry to get readied I still could enjoy watching tv program or surfing net Happy posting!

Hi, I do feel handicapped without a washing machine at home. At least, it save my time and energy,no need to handwash those clothes, I just need to sort my child's clothes into the laundry bags and for adult wears, I will dump everything into the washing machine, put some detergent and let it wash and spin dry by itself. At the same time, I can do other housechores while all my clothes are washing every night.

Unless I have to wash them by hand, I use a machine on a daily basis. I have one that does not have an agitator in it, and have found that it seems to be a bit easier on my clothes than those with an agitator, and, it cleans my clothes much better as well. I have a family of five to six. Five most of the time, but six when my youngest (step) son is here. We have a lot of laundry to take care of and if I had to wash it all by hand, I don't think I would get much else accomplished in my day.

HI Lynnemg, Your family size is big and using washing machine to wash clothes is the most effective way. It is tiring to use hand to wash clothes. For me, I really can't take it and my back will always get pain if I were to hand wash alot of clothes. That is why I just dump my daily wear into the washing machine and let the machine do the work for me.

No I don't handwash my clothes. I use a washing machine. I usually wash clothes twice a week. One day its the towels and sheets the second day its the colors and whites. If your washing machine has a setting for gentle cycle you can use that for the clothes that you handwash.

Hi, It is more time efficient to use washing machine to wash our clothes, at least we no need to waste energy to hand wash all the clothes.and while the clothes are washing, we can do other things too. Only for those clothes from soft material, then I will hand wash myself.

I think it's better to have machine wash id convenience is considered, but if you want the dirt & stains to go completely, then hand wash is better. However most of us don't find time for that & also many people are already tired of daily life routine & hence would prefer a machine wash. Happy Lotting

HI Taztheone, Since we can afford to get a washing machine at home, then have to fully utilize it. Of course, some people still prefer to hand wash their own clothes as they think it is more cleaner than getting the machine to wash it. But from my point of view, washing machine also can get our clothes clean and it saves more work for us.

Hi,shia,In our region,we used to utilize the services of washer man for wash and iron and for that we pay @ $1 per 10 clothes. If there is any urgency or for costly clothes we use washing machine and give them to again to washer man to get iron. For that they will charge @$1 per 20 clothes. All these process we follow on weekly basis only. All the best and have a nice day.

HI Baluyadav, That sound so good that there is a washer man to help wash the clothes and even with ironing part. I really wish I can have someone to help me doing it. Does it means you have to accumulate your clothes till one week and then one short get them wash...will that be alot??

I do both. Although i have a waher machine that has a "delicates" cycle I just cannot make myself use it. Especially on undergarments like bras and such. I am also very picky about having clean clothes that I wash them everyday. I cannot stand to have dirty laundry lying about so, it has become a daily ritual for me.

Hi Amandakringle, Same with me, I also can't stand having lot of dirty clothes at my laundry basket, that is why I choose to wash my clothes everyda and after they all dry,I will fold them nicely and keep into the cabinet everyday. I also can't stand seeing all those cleaned clothes lying outside my cabinet. I like to have a tidy and neat house,it makes my day more cheerful.

I used to do both. But since I have a son, now I only do machine wash. And I wash my clothes once in 2 or 3 days. I have a job also as a marketing, so I couldn't do the washing everyday.

hello shia88, wow, good for you for you do hand wash your clothes. that way you can protect them. but for us, we do the machine wash. we are five in the family. so you can just imagine then the bulk of clothes for wash. besides, we do it twice a week. this way, we can save water. we are having water problem in our place that's why. when my father-in-law was still alive, he does the washing of our clothes. and believe it or not he does it manually. he said that it's better manually than in machine. may he rest in peace.

Hi Shia. I live in an apartment, and the washing room is outside and down the walk a bit, so I don't wash every day. I use the machine for most things, but like, I wash delicate clothing and underthings or lightweight sweaters by hand and hand them on a clothes rack to dry. I've never had a maid or such to do laundry. That is rare for most middle or lower income people in the US. Karen

Dear Shia, I prefer to wash my clothes by hand. Good exercise and can 'play' with water too. In actual fact, our house washing machine spoilt for nearly a year. No budget to buy a new one, so handwash! However, I find it is good to handwash my clothes. I can recycle the water to wash the drain. The final rinse water can use to wash my car too. Economical and good for exercise! I wash my clothes every alternate day. Sometimes in the morning, sometimes in teh evening. I do not wash clothes on the day when the rubbish truck came, it is so smelly and unhygienic!

Hi Iriene, Oh, you really a good housewife. I guess I am not a good housewife,I am very lazy. I don't like to hand wash clothes unless the cloth is soft in fabric ,then only I will handwash myself. For daily wears, I just dumped everything into the washing machine everynight before my dinner time. By the time I finish my dinner and wash the plates,my clothes are ready to be hang out. I agreed with you that we can always use the recycled water to wash the drain and wash car.I am not doing both jobs at home. Washing car is done by my husband and washing the drain is done by my in-laws.

hi shia, for me it really depends on the cloth, if it's soft one or like satin i rather wash them by my hands, because if i do wash them on the machine surely it will be damaged and ruined.. but if it's hard or like jeans i put them on the machine..

Machine wash for all my clothes, cause I am too lazy to do hand wash and it's quite tiring to lay down to wash your clothes using hand and it makes my hand skin come out if my hands is put in the water for quite some time.
