For me, I prefer the down part, so that I can't get up lay down, and do anything I like without disturbing the other person. Also, I wiggle and moves around so much when I sleep, I might fall off when I'm on top haha. Double decks saves rooms space, and is very practical.

i am living in a boarding house when i was still in college, and most of the boarding house there are having double deck. i can't sleep when i am at the upper part of the deck, i am not comfortable and it seems that i can't move my body when i am on it, so i just make sure that i am at the down part of the deck and if not, i prefer sleeping on the floor than sleeping on the upper part of the deck.

I spend my 15 years of my life sleeping on the down part of a double deck. My mom made the decision that I sleep on the lower bed because she was scared that I might fall if I sleep on the top bed. My elder sleep on the upper part of the double deck because she was older and has more balance that I am. lol.

I have not slept in a bunk bed since I was a kid. When you're a kid you always want to sleep in the top bunk and that is more fun up there to sleep up in the air. I would always feel claustrophobic sleeping on the bottom bunk but you did get to kick the top bunk once in a while.
Do adults really sleep in bunk beds? I think I prefer my regular single or double bed.
Usually with bunk beds there are railings to stop you from rolling out of bed, and I am sure the more modern ones are better built and more safe.I think one of my fears would be a bunk beds collapsing and pancakeing the bottom sleeper.

Down, I don't feel like falling down, climbing in the middle of the night or have my bed crashed like a car collision like happened in a hostel in Germany. Fortunately I didn't have to pay. :D
First it was a normal double decker:

yes double decks save a lot of room space. we usually see them in boarding houses. that was where i experienced sleeping on one while i was still studying. i prefer to sleep on the top bed because i feel i could not breathe with something up my head, lol. also, there was this fear that the top bed might fall on me while sleeping on the lower bed.

The bottom, unless my friend/partner is heavy-set, then top. When I was younger, me and my brother slept in a bunk bed. He always slept on top so I always had the opportunity to lift him up and try to get him to fall off. :) No harm done since it was all for humor's sake.
Have fun, love life!
