Friends, being an Indian do u think that Hindi has really got its prestige as a national language? I think no! In offices English is used, in colleges English is used even talking in Hindi infront of big people whether they are teachers or seniors or local clients we feel depressed. If we can't speak good Hindi that's OK but if we can't speak English that u are out fashioned.
ab to net pe bhi aap hindi mein likh sakte hai google translater se.
ispe aap hindi english mein likiye(like now i am writing) aur wo isko hindi mein convert kar dega. Aap Logon ka kya sochna hai?

I do not think hindi is a national language. i use english for most of communication as i can connect with anyone. south indians have an aversion to hindi. probably due to the imposing nature of the north indians. i prefer english to hindi anyday. i can connect with the world using english, which hindi cannot. i am not a language chauvanist, but i feel english is much better in many apsects. the other language i feel every indian should learn is Sanskrit. I know atleast half a dozen indian languages to speak, read and write.

u r right that every one should learn Sanskrit to speak as not it has also been approved by NASA to be best language for computers.
But since Hindi is our national Language we should learn and respect hindi language.
One can say that if Englishmen can take there language at that extent that it is now the international language then why can't we after all we are more stronger in most of respects from them.

I don't think so..BUt unfortunately, this has been considered as the national language. The reason is just the "Politics".I think the people who are not able to learn other languages and know only the Hindi made this as national language, as they were in power.Of course, the population who are having Hindi as their mother tongue is more in India. Where ever the number of letters is more in the language, that can not be spread to the most and also we should not try for that. The reason for the most of the nations for accepting English as the international language is the less number of letters..Here Hindi fails. Also I don't know why the people who are speaking Hindi are stressing again and again as the national language though it is already considered so..May be the fear of loosing their status.

Hi. We must Respect our National Language Hindi as it is being spoken by many people in India. But we cannot come into a conclusion that everyone must learn Hindi. I am a south Indian and I am from TamilNadu. I can understand Hindi but I am not a good speaker of Hindi language. Many south Indian have an aversion to Hindi mainly due to the fact that the central government in 1965 wanted to impose Hindi in schools and colleges as a sole medium of language apart from English thus creating a big trouble for the regional Language Tamil. It created an uproar and stir from all Tamil people then and the aversion that was created upon the Hindi language unfortunately continues till date. Tamil is one of the oldest languages in the World and it is even older than Sanskrit. Yes, Sanskrit must be learned and respected by everyone. It is not only the language of scholars but language of all.

I agree that we should respect Hindi as a language as we should respect all other languages but as a Bengali I do not feel that we should have to learn Hindi. If we are able to that is wonderful. In many places in North India, Hindi is the mother tongue and no one takes pains to learn any other language other than English. Then why should every other regional people have to learn three languages, Hindi,English and their own regional language. In fact in terms of number of people speaking it Bengali comes higher than Hindi, strange as it is!
