What do you do to drain that amount of battery? My laptops battery lasts 3-4 hours sometimes. Though most average around 2. You probably do need to follow some of the advice above, like turning the light on the screen down a bit etc, or if you need to be right back, then put it on standby etc.

When you are at home I wouldn't rely on your laptop battery. Take it out and just use the power supply unit that comes with it. By doing this you will preserve the life of your battery. Charge up the battery fully and then only use it when you are going to be away from home. An hour and a half isn't that long when you come to think of it. There are some things that will make your battery run down quicker and that is if you are playing online games or watching a movie or something of that nature. When you are doing things like that it's best to use the power supply. Andrew

One and a half hours for battery life isn't that long. That's actually quite low. I've owned a few Toshiba laptops and my battery life has been at least two hours at the least for all of them. Are you perhaps, watching videos or anything like that whenever your laptop is running off the battery? That would definitely drain the life faster than if you were just doing things like surfing the net. I'm guessing that your battery is a 6-cell right? You can always boost it by getting an 8-cell or something. They are fairly cheap these days.

The performance of the chargeable batteries can be identified only after 4-5 complete charging and discharge. This is applicable even to our mobile batteries. As yours in new, make it to charge fully and use if fully just before it is about to drain out. Repeat this charging cycle for at least 5 times. Then only the exact back up time can be known. Also this will increase the life of the battery also.

I leave my computer plugged in, so I don't use the battery. I am not sure if that is the best thing to do, but at least I am not using the battery, as it only charges when it needs to be charged. O wo;; fomd ,u batteru start cjargomg pm ,e at to,es tjpigj.amd tjat ,ogjt be beecaise it eiehter came unplugged or the battery is draining. I have only had my laptop dince January of this year, so it is fairly new, and I am taking good care of it and doing what I need to keep it running smoothly at all times. I really never shut my computer down either, but then I think that might not be all that good to do that either. I might just start shutting it down when I go to bed. Take care and happy mylotting.

That is quite short. I think you need to decrease the screen brightness and turn off wi-fi and bluetooth if you are not using them. You can also dim the display (in Windows 7) after a minute or two to save up on precious battery power. My precious....
