I know mine is just about every dog or cat I have had is afraid of thunderstorms
I have my cat Jinx now and he is terrified of storms especially the big crackling ones! He jumps right out of his skin and takes off and goes under the bed where he will stay until its over
My dogs were the same way only they jumped up on the couch with us and wouldn't move until it was over. How does your pet behave when a during a storm? If you have multiple dogs or cats do they behave diffrently?

My dog was really afraid of them and she had this amazing radar, she would be standing by the basement door begging to go down stairs before the storm would even arrive she would sense it comeing and start trying to alarm us. She would not just go down the basement by her self either. If you opened the door for her she would go down a couple of stairs and turn around and look at me like, "Aren't you coming?" She was such a smart awesome dog.

My dear kitty, who is an indoor cat, likes to fight back at storms. She has a very short fuse anyway and is rather prone to hissy fits (literally!)
When the thunder roars, she will run for the window and jump up on the window sill, and shout back at it with a really loud mew. How DARE a storm make a noise in her territory! The nerve of it!
So I really have a very brave cat - if she could she would go right outside and beat the storm up with her bare paws. But she does have some concerning anger issues...may need a trip to kitty therapy!

I have 3 dogs and each one of them acts differently during a storm i also have 2 kittens. My dogs tyko and bear do not notice the storm at all they curl up together and sleep. however my other dog betsy it terrified, she yelps and screams as if the lightning and thunder is hitting her. she's a boston terrior who is the mother of tyko and bear and she hides under the chair or in the bath tub we had to start crating her because of how upset she was getting. Our kittens peaches and pair are from the smae littler and both the girls are not scared of the storms but they climb the drapes during the storms.

I have a dog that is scared of thunderstorms. He won't go outside or do anything he just sits there until it is over. I think maybe it's just the thunder he is scared of. I have two other dogs and two cats and they aren't scared. Just the one dog.

hello Cherryd41,
we have a dog before that was so afraid of the thunderstorm. once he heard the thunder, he wanted to go inside the house at once and hide under the table or bed. he will cry out loud till such time that he is in. one time we left him alone outside the house and we spent vacation down. when we came back, our door at the back was destroyed. he kept on scratching it for he wanted to go in. we were told that while we're away, it rained so hard and has thunderstorms. so that's why our door was destroyed. he was a good dog and his name was Zambo. our kids missed him.

The one dog I lived with years ago would fly, literally, under the bed, my bed, whenever there was thunder or lightening.
I guess they don't understand what thunder or lightening is and the sound just scares them.
Other dogs just bark and bark endlessly.

I believe that most dogs are afraid of thunderstorm. We have 3 dogs as of the moment and they would hide under the chair when there is a thunderstorm. Sometimes, they would really try themselves to get inside the house and hide somewhere else.

I do not have a pet now. I have owned one ever since I can remember and most of the dogs were petrified of sound of fireworks and thunder hi hi. My last pet browny, would cuddle under the chair or bed. Normally he wasnt let to come inside our home but when there is sound of fireworks or thunder, he comes running to take refuge. It was apleasant sight and i am happy that you reminded me of it.
Goodday

My dog is also afraid of thunderstorms. She's really cute when she's afraid. She like us to hug her or cover her. She stays with us til the thunder's gone. She's like a little baby. :)

While my dog seems to be a brave one. Indesd of being afraid of what is going on when storming, he just barking the same as when stranger comes. Mybe i think he could be more threntened by thunder than yours. But he knows how to make up it in his own way.

Hi Cherry,
Oh yes, my dog is afaid of thunderstorms also, she starts acting strange before it starts. Bless her heart I'm not sure what has caused her to be so afaid. Once she even tried to crawl under the sofa and she's big dog. I have a cat and he could care less about the storm.

well I have my two kitties Pyewacket and Kissy. Nothing seems to phase Pyewacket, but yes, Kissy will hide somewhere even by just hearing the pitter patter of rain, so forget thunderstorms...she usually hides in my closet, which I always have to have the door slightly open so she can hide in there.

Two chihuahua's, Two cats, one is an outside cat.
One Chihuahua shakes, another one doesn't seem to care.
The inside cat likes to look out the window when it's hailing
outside. I'm not sure why she does but there was a big storm a
few months ago and she was sitting on the stool looking out the winder.

I only have one pet, a two year old dog. She isn't too bad when it comes to thunderstorms. She does jump at the loud bangs, but she doesn't run and hide or anything. She just looks at us like "what is going on out there?" She HATES rain though. If she has to go out and it's raining she stands at the door for a long time as if she's waiting for the drops to stop falling. She also hates getting her paws wet.

We had a dog growing up that was completely scared of thunder. He would hide in the only room that did not have a window in that house which happened to be the bathroom..lol..if it was a really bad storm he would be in the tub. Being a coonhound/lab mix he was a big dog about 103 lbs. at best and filled the entire little bathroom up!

All five dogs are afraid of thunderstorms and they try to hide themselves every time during thunderstorms. My dogs tend to get nervous more in the loud banging sound of fireworks. You can see them shaking and hiding inside the closet every New Year's eve.

My grandfather's dog is afraid of thunder and lightning. When I first saw the dog, named Bugsy, ran and his under the house, I was confused. I thought he was searching for something. Then I found out that he was afraid after all of the thunder because he he just went out when there wasn't thunderstorm anymore.
