smoking and birthcontrol

okay recently i thought that maybe i was pregnant...because my period had been messed up, but then I started thinking i just recently started smoking again. So do you think that smoking while taking birthcontrol could be the reason for having another period within 2 weeks of my last one? And for it to be lighter and last longer than it usually does?
