Have you ever experienced going to a bank or store and was handled by an apathetic agent/teller? I had several experiences but chose not to make a big deal out of it considering that that person may end up losing his/he job if I raise a concern. I know that by reporting, it would at least give the management an idea on the behavior of some of their employees. But I just felt that it's best that the complaint come from others and not from me. Am I wrong?

No you're not. You should have reported that agent or teller. I mean it's their job to help customers. They have no right to be rude at customers. I've had this experience before just like you. Too bad the owner was also rude. lol I'm really pissed off with them. shadow41

So, it's double whammy then. Well I don't want to be in that situation. I'd rather have one rude person than two of them. I think it's the boss's job to monitor his/her employees. Anyway, one thing is for sure, they just lost a good customer.

In as much as it is thier responsibility to see to the good of thier customers, one shouldn't be ignorant of the incontravertable fact that some people are born moribunds & this as pervasive as it is,affects the nooks & cranies of thier life. This undeniably makes room for awful and derogatory behaviour wherever they find themselves.

i had several experiences treated with bad customer service. i went to this textile store and the saleslady was, maybe, new to the job or was just not listening to their customer service seminars. i know store employers are constantly conducting these seminars to their staff. but once, as i was asking a saleslady about how much a meter is for a kind of cloth, i was met with "that is expensive, ma'am". that really irked me as it gives me a feeling that she had said that because i can't afford to buy it.. that really embarrassed me. when i went back to the office, i really called up the human resources manager and told her about what happened but did not tell her who the saleslady was as i didn't want her to be reprimanded. i also suggested to the human resources manager to further "hone" the customer services of their clerks to avoid the same situation in the future to protect and build up the image of the store they work for.

I can relate to that, for a moment you'll start thinking if there's something wrong with the way you dress or your appearance as a whole. On the other hand, those sales agent could just be concerned on the way you'll react once you'll find out the price, they just don't know how to deliver it, it may be insensitive but it's a fact that most of them are fresh graduates or even undergraduates. It could be their first job who knows... I'm not saying it's an excuse to be insensitive. But you did the right thing, informing HR. There are a lot of good employees out there, you just have to give them the proper training and motivation.

We were buying a doorbell or a buzzer at the hardware store and as my mom was asking to demonstrate so we caould hear how it sounds like, the salesman was so down and unfriendly, I just had to tell my mom to go and get another salesman instead. They should be upbeat so that customers will be willing to buy their products. Should be accommodating and ready to serve.

They're paid for that right? and I see no reason why a salesman can give a customer a bad time just because he's having a bad day considering that if he ended up losing his job, He'll end up feeling worst LOL.

There things that we can forgive and forget. Once, OK... twice... perhaps, but if it's more than that, we need to do something like report it to their superior. I can easily forgive the lack of good customer training but not a bad attitude.

We have experienced that in a major way when we were shopping for tiles for our house. The customer service was so bad, we had to wait an hour just to get the things we purchased loaded in the car. The employees were so slow and kept on passing paper around etc. We pledged we'd never do business with them again and we never did. It was after my father ranted at them. hehe.. I don't know about management. But I think they know their employees are lax but they just ignore it. They'll soon wake up when nobody will buy from them anymore.

I have had bad customer services at someplaces I use to go to. I stop going to those places and there were some that I did reports about the bad service to the management. Some of the employees did not lose job and I do not know if what I said but some employees I did not see anymore. It could be that they just quit you never know.

Today's management is as bad as those serving us at the counter. They have no shame of inefficiency. They lack ethics. They think we owe us a living. For those shops, I will not ever darken their doors again. After all, the customer can still be right to shop at a more friendly outlet.

I have experienced bad customer service and it really depends on the situation. I worked in retail, including as a supervisor with responsibility for a department, for a few years. Because of this I have a lot of sympathy for people who work in these jobs. On the other hand, it means I have LESS sympathy if it is really bad service, because I know what my standards were for myself and my staff and I expect the same from other stores. Having said all that, I could tell you a hundred stories about customers who were rude and ignorant, about customers who yell and swear at you because of something completely out of your control and of the many many people who treat shop assistants like they are lesser life forms because of their job. So generally I have to say my sympathy is not on the customers side! The customer is not always right. Sometimes, they are an idiot, and you have to be polite to them anyway!

Why would you think it was best for the complaint to come from someone else? Management usually will kind of ignore one complaint but if the complaints show a pattern then they will counsel the employee. So they need to know about any poor customer service issues. If the employee loses their job they do so because of repeated complaints not just one. So the employee fired themselves through poor service.
