In US schools that teach Chinese, some use Simplified Characters and some use Traditional Characters. I am wonderding if you knew a foreign student of Chinese who could choose which characters to study, which would you recommend? How should he or she choose?

Aren't you a Chinese? I thought you were according to your personal data.I am from China. We use simplified characters in daily life and all the students in China learn simplified characters now except some special training school. However, people who can wrote traditional characters are always admired by common people,as traditional characters are usually wrote by penman and painters. As for the question you ask,it depends. If you wanna learn Chinese for the sake of daily life, you'd better choose simplified characters. While if you wanna be a artist, haha, you can learn traditional characters which need us spend more time for my part.
