Last time I went for a business trip in another town, I just gave the address to the taxi driver, then he knew how to get there easily with the help of the GPS navigation.
If you are the type who travel to the new and unfamiliar place for work or play, adding a GPS-based navigation system to your car make sense. Many of the navigation system gave both the audio and visual turn-by-turn diection to many address. It will give much convenience to your driving.
Have you installed the GPS navigation in your car? Do you think it is save your fuel cost after you installed the Navigation? If you did take the taxi, would you prefer to take the one with installing the GPS navigation?
Appreciate your comment here.

No, I have not installed a GPS based navigation system in my car. Some of our friend have a hand held one and said they work pretty good. I have wanted one for a while maybe I will get myself one for Christmas this year. I do not like to drive in big cities because I do not know my way around. I'm hoping if I get GPS I will be able to find my way around in a big cities and then maybe I will be able to get a job.

Hi Sasalove, I think it would be necessary for me if I got ti drive by myself. I have poor sense of direction, even the place I have come for several times, I can still do not remember how to get there by myself.
I think GPS do save fuel cost especially for those driver who need to go to new place often. As for those people who are having almost changeless routine it may not necessary.
Thank you for your post and have a great day.

I think it is not a common practice yet to have a GPS on a taxi. Maybe, you just jump in to a taxi that install his own GPS. I don't think the taxi company install it for him. Anyway, it depends which city you are going.
Yeah GPS definitely is a handy tool. I was traveling to other city and use a GPS on my blackberry. I can find the street very easy and make the GPS shows me the way. Only one problem with the GPS, sometimes, they are loosing signal. When they don't have a signal then I cannot find my way

I think GPS devices are an unnecessary luxury. You pay at least a hundred dollars to get this box that does the same thing as MapQuest, a pen, and paper. It seems unnecessary to me to spend hundreds of dollars that could be going toward retirement or staying in my bank account.
I have been driving for five years and have had to go to many places to which I needed directions. I've heard people complain about MapQuest, but I've never had a problem with it. I had a friend who owned a GPS and more than anything, it was annoying to have to watch her sit there and push buttons on it after pulling over (since you don't want to divert your attention from the road!). Of course, it was also rude of the GPS lady to keep interrupting me...
I'm a planner. When I need to go somewhere, I'll go to MapQuest.com, and instead of using printer ink I'll write down directions with a paper and pen to save money on the ink. I guess for people who don't think ahead a GPS would be beneficial, but for me, it's ridiculous to even think to buy one. It's simply unnecessary.

Thanks for sharing your comment here. It does quite true that it will divert your attention if you need to stare at the navigation now and then. I think the navigation will give much convenience to those who did not have much direction sense and get prepared ready for their destination.
If every body is like you, the navigation company will get bankrupt soon, lolI think I will learn from you to use the MAPQuest to get the desintation fully ready in advance to save money.

I have use the GPS navigation that is integrated in my cell phone. In my opinion,it is very easy to go to the place that you desire with the help of GPS especially when you are in an unfamiliar place. However,i turn on my GPS in my hometown and i discover that it lead me to a longer route. Well,i can conclude that GPS is only necessary when you are not familiar to the surrounding.

I wish I had a need for a GPS system but I hardly ever leave my little town. When I do go somewhere its still familiar territory so still I don't need one. I do believe for those that aren't familiar with where they are going a GPS would be a time and fuel saver both.
