I was just watching CNN and was glued to it praying for a 6yrs old boy that they thought had climbed into a balloon his dad had been building on the roof. the boys 7 and 9yrs old brothers told the parents that he had climbed into it and the balloon floated into the air.it went 70 miles and came down without the 6 yr old in it. WELL, they just found out that after an hours search and worry about where he may have fallen out, he was found to be hiding in the attic boy are these kids going to get it! at least the brothers are going to. reminds me of when my daughter went off with a friend and they moved!! so, next day i was franticly trying to find out where they'd taken her and called the police i was scared to death they'd kidnaped her. they dropped her back at the house on the 3rd day. I was so mad. i told them the cops were looking for them and they peeled out. my daughter said she'd told me all about it and forgot to call. yet, it was hard to spank and punish her. i was so releaved. she still teases me after 16yrs later about smacking her butt, then hugging her, then screaming at her, then hugging her so have your kids ever scared the bjesus out of you? and what did you do.?

they should be grounded but from what i saw on interveiws with them these parents are doing the same thing most people do today. those kids are way out of any kind of disiplin pretty much do what they please. the little one seems to be enjoying all the attention.

Holy crap thats what happened to the kid? I was wondering. I watched this whole thing unfold u untill the baloon landed and the kids wasn't in it. At that point the speculation that the basket he may have been sitting in, attatched to the baloon, may have fallen off in the beginning of the flight. I became occupied after that so I didn't get to catch up until now. What I don't get was, was the kid hiding because he thought he was in big trouble for letting his dads baloon float off? Or was it a prank?

in the interview the kid said he had gotten in trouble before for the balloon. his dad had already warned him about the balloon. so he was most likely pouting. he seems to be pretty mischeivious on this tv interveiw i watched.

This whole thing is really getting crazy! I just heard this morning that they finally admitted it was a hoax. I hope the parents have to go to jail over this. All that wasted effort! They are so lucky that there wasn't a REAL emergency at the same time! But, my son did scare the bejesus out of me once, but he didn't know it. He was about 2 or 3 and playing with his brother. I went in the kitchen to do something and when I came back only my oldest son was playing. I asked where his brother was and he said he didn't know (he was only 4 or 5 himself). I looked all over the house and couldn't find him. Then I went out and looked in the yard and couldn't find him. I even went across the street to the beach thinking he wanted to play in the water! He was NOWHERE! I was freaking out thinking he had gone in the water. I was checking the closets, the basement, even in the dryer! I finally found him napping on the floor of his bedroom, bundled up in some blankets between the beds.

Usually I try to give the people the benefit of the doubt too - and sometimes end up with egg on my face also! I haven't heard much about it lately, there are more exciting things going on now I suppose!

yes i saw on the news where they are admitting it well, i've been argueing for these people because i always thing the best of everyone until proven wrong and now i just feel like the biggest dunce on the planet but sadly its not the first time just for that reason i think the dad should have to suffer some reimburement or retribution of some kind. i dont want both to go to jail for that would leave the little boys in a bad way.

Yes, at one time or another all my kids have hidden on me and it is such a scary feeling. I pulled that hiding in the attic thing when I was a kid. I could so relate to that kid's fear of coming out. I remember being in the attic and seeing cops and most of the town searching about and calling my name. I stayed up there for hours before my cousin...the one person who knew I was up there and was sworn to secrecy finally gave in and ratted me out. I think I was as relieved to be found as they all were to find me at that point. I just heard the news and they are not pressing any charges against the parents. I know at some point that it was considered that it might have been a hoax of some sort. I kind of believe the kids may have done this on their own to trick the dad and it just got huger than they anticipated.

Hi there, You are probably right. I have heard since that there is a video that shows the dad launching it. If he is behind it then he should be made to pay. He wasted a lot money and time. As a parent I felt really bad for that family as I'm sure many many others did. If he did it he should pay. Heck if a kid pulls a fire alarm they are made to pay.

i still say, i'd have to give him the doubt benefit. not all things are planned or all people bad. the dad looked like he was about to cry on the interview. plus the little boy seemed pretty hyper, mischeivious and perfectly able to do such a thing.

I don't buy it the dad set this up I'm sure of it, that family has already been on tv multiple times before this incident, also this cost the tax payers alot of money million infact, do you know much it costs to fuel the military helicopters that were tracking that balloon.

I heard this story on the news, but had not heard that the child was found. It's good to know he is okay. I have 5 kids, so of course I've had a few scary moments where I thought I'd lost one. We were at the fair one year, which is really huge here in NY. There were 3 adults, me, hubby, and my friend who was visiting, and we were in charge of my 5 kids. Well hubby took the 2 older boys to the bathroom. My daughter said she didn't have to go, so she stayed with me, my friend, and the 2 youngest boys who were still in diapers. My friend and I were chatting, and after a few moments I realized my daughter wasn't with us anymore!! I stayed calm at first, figuring she'd changed her mind and gone to the bathroom with the boys. But then hubby came out of the building with the 2 boys but no daughter!! That's when I freaked out. So hubby and my friend both ran back into the building to find her. Thankfully it wasn't that hard, she was still near the entrance way, just wandering aimlessly trying to find her dad. We were all freaked out but she had no idea!

my stupid 3rd ex hubby one time, took the kids over to a friends house from church and came back with 4 of the kids, not five the 5yr old was missing. we went back to get him only to find him eating ice cream cones in the back yard with their dad. he said my little one had started crying and so he gave him ice cream and said dont worry they will be back for you

I saw the news and the police taught it was only a family stunt because they were the one who invented that balloon. I was also focused on the news when it aired and thankfully there was no kid in there

I dont think it was for publicity. i think it was an awful accident. people are always willing to think the worst of everyone. im not like that im always one that give people the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah it was a stunt, an it cost millions of dollars too, why you ask because they had military helicopters tracking the balloon thats why.

hi bunnybon oh yes this was really a long time back as my son is now fifty.hehe We waited and waited that afternoon, and I was just frantic. My son was supposed to be back on the school bus at one thiry and no Robbie. we called the school and they said he had got on the bus okay so they thought maybe he had dallied on the way home from the bus, he was only five so was so worried, then I went out to the garage, opened the door and there was my son, hiding behind the garage door. I wanted to paddle him as we had searched for an hour and were just about to call the police. by this time his dad was there. so my son went into this really neat little story all about some bad man hijacking the bus and just letting them off a few minutes ago. Still just standing sort of grinning, then my husband went right on, and s aid, oh my well I think we should call the police dont you Robbie?" then hge broke down a nd said,no no Daddy I was just telling a story. I just wanted to play with the dog. nobody hijacked the bus, Daddyl well we all had a laugh and nobody got spanked,so all was well that ended well.

Thankfully, my son never did anything like that, or nothing that I ever heard of anyway. When I was little I was the one doing stuff like that to my poor, sainted mother. Half of her grey hairs weren't age-related. I gave them to her. As soon as I turned 3, I thought I was old enough to do things on my own (or so she told me). Once, when she was on the telephone I decided to walk several blocks away to the park to play on the swings. Another time while shopping I snuck away, left the store and went to another store to ride the escalators up and down. Needless to say, I suffered my share of 'huggy spanks'.

i did a few things like that im sure but i never got the HUGGY kind of spanks, i got the raging beatings so i was a bit scared to do much. anyway, i guess i made up for it by being extra loving to my kids they all know how much i love them and always tried to protect them from themselves
