Instrumental In Songs-Better Or Worse?

I was wondering what people thought on this: do you think that the instrumental in songs release into the charts has improved over the years or got worse? I was thinking about this after I had been listning to songs from the 70's and noticed how much I liked some of the instrumentals in the songs even when I didn't like the singing! Then listning to some more mordern music I have found some songs that I do think are great but I noticed while some did have good rhythmn and instrumental sound, I relised how some newer tracks seemed more 'computerised' with more digital sound effects perhaps added from a computer rather then comming from an instrument such as a guitar or a keyboard. Having said that, these effects may well have been used in older tracks too. Overall I don't think that the quality of instrumentals in songs released into the charts has got worse- I think that there have been some very good instrumentals in songs released more relecently like for example songs from Taylor Swift as well as songs from years ago like tracks from Queen but perhaps the amount of tracks with less instrumental from drums, keyboards and other instruments and more digital effects from a computer has increased. What do you think on this?

I love intrumentals! Some people say that you need a singer and lyrics to "give a song meaning", but I don't. In fact, I don't consider the singers voice any different than any other instrument. It's not about words, it's about music.

Intreasting, I agree that its like the voice can be an instrument and that their can be great meaning from an instrumental.
